    Phones at the table

Why do casinos prohibit the use of cell phones at the table?

Are they afraid a confederate may be sending you information?
Are they afraid it will slow down the game?

    Both? Something else?

A combination of the former, as well as an iPhone sending information for further analysis for either immediate return, or for "casing the joint". . It's been known to happen.

Places where you're known, as well as other obvious are given some slack in some places.

This was addressed on GWAE a week or two ago. Richard’s opinion is that this is a dumb policy and is one of the factors keeping millennials disinterested in gambling.

Like many things casinos do, nobody knows why, and it is a dumb policy. I haven't been there for a while, but Caesars LV permitted phones at the BJ table last time I was there, as long as the call was less than a minute.

there are many reasons , such as it may be able to "see" the cards , maybe able to calculate odds , mostly because they are afraid it could help your cheat.

Non bj related, but along the same lines. Was at a nice restaurant, with the wife for a Sunday breakfast. This asshole next to us started talking on the phone, for several minutes in a loud voice to his wife. I asked him several times in my subtle modus operandi, to keep it down. The dumb shit was rude and didn't comply - go figure. I asked to be moved, and the dumb shit was to loud not to be aggravated.

So, utilizing a play from my brothers play book, (he is far less couth than I), I wondered over in his general direction, dropped a napkin, bent over to pick up said napkin, pivoted with my ass facing him, and stung him with the wrath of Zorro.

My wife was not pleased with me.

That's like the old joke from George Carlin:

    Mind if I smoke?
Mind if I fart? That's one of my bad habits.

    P.S. There are rude Canadians?

Don't think so. I've never come across one. Lacking social graces, perhaps. It's partial compensation for the idiocy of our Prime Minster. Maybe Rump, I mean Trump, would like to move to Ottawa.

The Canadian equivalent to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., is 24 Sussex Drive. I'm not a real Trump fan, but he's a shitload better than what we have.

If you were a casino, would you want people looking at a device that is a powerful computer? Thought not.

Absolutely! It's like casinos freaking out about card counters and downgrading their games for an overall loss.

When people are using their phones and the casino makes them stand away from the table, that's hands not dealt to them. Do you really think the number of people using their phone to track cards and tell them what to do overwhelms the lost revenue from those just checking their texts, etc?

I don't think so except maybe one. Just make sure you leave the lights on for them.
