    Enforcement Procedures - Pennsylvania

"City man charged in casino theft

PLAINS TWP. - State police arrested a Scranton man early Thursday at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs after he allegedly picked up a wallet another patron left behind.
Samuel Kendricks Jr., 21, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property after he picked up a wallet forgotten at a slot machine, took $300 and a credit card out of it and threw it in a garbage can, according to a state police news release.
The wallet, credit card and a portion of the cash were later recovered, and Mr. Kendricks was arrested and later released on $5,000 bail after his arraignment, according to the release.
State police said there may have been additional suspects involved, and there may be more arrests, according to the release."

Just sharing this because I often see questions about using false ID, another person's player card, etc.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Commission representatives present at all casinos have no arrest powers; they are there only to monitor the money and make sure the State gets its proper share.

If there is a problem of any type inside the premises requiring police intervention, the Pennsylvania State Police have officers at each casino and the matter is handled by their agency. From some of the articles I've seen, they have arrested individuals for cashing credits left on slots, false identification and other seemingly minor or insignificant activity. Additionally, because the fines associated with the usage of false identification to gain access to the gaming areas are steep, casino management wants to set an example when there is an infraction.

Bear in mind that these officers have plum assignments and there is a need for them to justify their existence.
