It still is, granted not as much as the 80's and 90's where the (now) infamous APs such as David Walsh and Andrew Scott burned the circuit, but opportunities still exist. Pontoon outside of Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide is still lucrative. I've heard that SE Asia is full of opportunity too. BJ is dead or dying though.

I guess being happy is the most important thing yeah. The quote in Moses' sig is very apt:

If I could have a re-do, yes, I'd do it over again. Although I'd probably do it a bit differently (not much different).

I like it because I can make more with APing than a regular job. It's fun and I enjoy it. I'd rather AP than be stuck at a 9-5 where I have to put up with basically everything a job forces you to put up with. I like the freedom, where I can basically do whatever I want. I enjoy going on a trip to go play a juicy promo and I can do it on my own terms, I can travel how and when I want.

I don't really mind the casino atmosphere, but I also play more machines than table games, so it's easier to avoid all the BS (like idiots getting mad at you for hitting 12v3).

Of course it's all relative. There are certain things I don't like doing. There are certain things I do like doing. I think the good outweighs the bad.

If you like it, do it. If you don't like it, don't do it.

Thing is, once you are invested in a skill (time , effort) you want it to pay. I found counting while trying to close some loops, had a sequence of colours in a roulette dream which I decided to ignore for years as didn't want to be a losing gambler, finally as it wouldn't go away I looked into the odds on a game of roulette and found b.j..much better odds, counting = winning odds counting plus indices = better still. I've logged around 39 hours in casinos with NHC bj games and have earned half a unit per hour before costs, which are ridiculous in Europe. Invested in books and CVBJ and study and practised for over 1000 hours (slow learner ;-).. have a solid game.

Looking to recoup my time and energy but the degeneration of the game seems horrible...... anyhow I'm gunna have a shot at the U.S this summer I hope.

Whether or not I can make b.j pay I'm grateful for the learning experience and the discipline it has taught me. Most useful is logic over emotion. Freedom is learnt not given.

I feel really bad for all the folks who are stuck to the army of machines that appear to be growing exponentially over here ...very strange atmosphere. I hope a good percentage of them are APs but, alas I doubt it.

Thanks for all the sharing you guys do on here. I've managed to glean most of the information I needed.

Enjoy your cards, if you can
