Moses what you have to realize is these animals are exactly like the predators in the Savannah's of Africa. They look for easy prey. If you are not intimidated most will leave you alone because you act that way because you can take care of business. You are not easy prey. Of course the rare exception might kill you for no reason at all. They read your reaction to them and act accordingly. I read their reaction to me and act accordingly. I know how each type of gang member thinks. The type you have to watch out for, that could get you in trouble, is the little guy with the big mouth. He is no threat on his own but the big quiet enforcer guys with him will back him up if he successfully provokes you and the little guy lives for that thrill. You should be able to break the little guy down quickly but then you have several 400 pound behemoth's, that otherwise would have left you alone, coming after you. You have to read the entire scene. Not just what is happening at your table. You should be aware of all your surroundings anyway in order to recognize heat so you should know what is going on around you. If you don't carry yourself well and be aware of your surroundings at all times they will target you for robbery whether you did anything to them or not. Sometimes them testing you at the table is them sizing you up as a possible target for robbery. You only have to be unintimidated and uncooperative to be seen as undesirable prey. You don't have to be aggressive. If you are submissive and cooperate you better get security to escort you to your car. I guess the people you deal with all the time are a bit more civilized than that. You might not get home at all if you came to these parts and thought it was prudent to act like the latter, as the thugs would see you as easy prey like a wounded animal amongst the herd and very likely would target you for robbery and possibly a killing.
