I don't think walking away with a +10K cash transaction and not filing a CTR is legal in the US.

I would plead criminal insanity and would expect acquittal.

I'm not sure, but I believe the onus is on the casino, not the patron.

Exactly. It's not your job to train casino employees. Keep the money unless asked to return it. But of course play dumb and act surprised if they point out the error. It seems like a no brainer to me to always keep your mouth shut whenever you're lucky enough to experience a casino error that works in your favour. I might consider acting differently at a casino that I frequent somewhat often or think they might have a way of finding out my name.

Also seems like another excellent reason to not get a player's card.

i've had a bunch of mispay at cages and always correct them bc i don't want someone getting fired including 2000 dollars in a casino i was never going to be in again

i had a commerce poker cashier try and give me the wrong amount of chips 4 times when i was buying chips
she tried to overpay me by 1000, then 500 then underpay me by 500 then overpay me by 500. finally i just kept it.i wasn't gonna stand there all day.i corrected her 3 times.

at a blackjack table i'm keeping any extra money they give me.

at the rio during wsop last june the cage underpaid me by 400. i realized a minute later, went back and had to argue with them to check the video. they finally checked it, gave me the money and didn't even apologize for underpaying me or not wanting to check to begin with.

Providing an update. Today, while I was playing, the cage supervisor can to the table, politically sIted till round was over, explAined the overlay and asked me to return the money. I said "I was surprised that I had more money when I counted out my wallet at home, was wondering how I could be off so much, ok", and I gave the money back.

What is being a counter has to do with this? He tried to steal the money and got caught. It had nothing to do with counting cards.

I always correct cage errors. Where I play a cashier's job can be on the line if the cashier is off.

ZeeBabar, what happened when you went back to the cage after the day's play? Did the clerk greet you with good afternoon, sir? While simultaneously pointing to your picture on the wall to her colleague that it is him again.

Stop the paranoia, please. So some suit MAYBE reads this forum. He then runs over to start an urgent meeting to announce that "hey, we got a breakthru, a 3rd rate card counter who made $25k over three years and some 700 hours playing in some 50 casinos has left a clue, I deserve a promotion!" and then the board votes to go all out, appoint a team of top class investigators to stop this card counter before he hits their state to make $200.

Admitting theft could get you prosecuted, and barred even in a state that cannot bar you for counting.

    Just a miscellaneous point.
The new Canadian bills (100's about 4 years ago) and the new Yankee Benjis are thinner versions of older bills. They tend to stick together. It's easy to be off on the count either giving or receiving.
