I’ve added two performance enhancing functions that may improve site response time and reliability a bit, particularly for non-US users. Please notify me if any problems are experienced.

For tech types that may be interested, the new features are smart network routing and tiered caching. The first feature forces network routing around congested parts of the I’Net backbone. The second improves remote caching. Currently, static files are cached in up to 119 servers around the globe. Files in the cache time out. If a file is not present, the file must be fetched from the origin server in Pennsylvania. With tiered caching, nearby caches are checked. So, if you are in Australia and the file is not in the closest cache, the other four caches in Australia will be checked before going to PA.
