And, just to be clear, I wasn't referring to the chip rack.

Sometimes there is arrogance, a belief that their rules are so poor that no one can win for long. I play a $25 min. DD game, double 9-11 only, no DAS, no re-split any cards, double minimum if starting out with 2 hands, not being able to go to 2 hands if you played one hand the previous hand). The pen is 75%+.

Lumiere stills watches this game closely since it is their only double deck.

I was not thinking or writing about Lumiere Place (the pen is less than 75% there) but another DD game in Mo.

ZeeBabar, We know that you mean Argosy in K.C.

They are active contributors to OSN and Biometrica.

If it is the casino that I am thinking of it is the one with the silly farm animals ~ pathetic.

MO has a lot of crummy games in rural locations.

The games are pathetic, the dealers clumsy, the pit dumb and no real surveillance with deep pen. Some prefer good rules, others prefer deep pen.

I'll take good pen over good rules anytime - when you can't have both.

I prefer good rules, as they permit me to spread (my bets) "politely."
Also, I virtually disdain the super-deep penetration that invites variance.
My biggest financial disasters (losses) have mostly come in shoe games
with good to excellent rules, heads-up, dealt in the 95-98% range.

I have played games with a very low House Edge that I have done surprisingly
well at with a 3-1 spread (DD) and 6-1 (six decks). Playing light black these
games have 'earned' me roughly two (2) units per hr. and lovely high comps.

With all due respect, isn’t this a bit voodoo? I’m sure some of your biggest upswings have been in games like this as well.

It's not voodoo at all. The best conditions, which create our biggest wins, are also responsible for our biggest losses. The key is to be smart about it, and to make sure you're on the proper side of the bell curve.
