If you are offered a job by the casino would you take it?

If you are offered a job by the casino other than being a dealer for table games and being a pit boss. I am talking about jobs that are non-gaming related. For example, valet attendant. As an advantage player would you take the job? The job would generate you positive EV so it is something to think about.

Don't most casinos have a policy that says that employees cannot play at the casino where they work? So it would depend upon other factors as well. I would consider whether there are other casinos in the area, if I have ever drawn any heat from the particular facility, is there anything promising in being able to play at that casino. All in all, if it worked out to a negative, no. If it worked out to a positive then certainly. You can make a lot of bucks being a valet at an upscale casino.

Truth: if I were offered a job with equal status and pay with what I already have, I still wouldn't take it. Can you imagine the embarrassment if you were backed off somewhere and your employer found out about it? Or what if, God forbid, money was lost...you would immediately be a suspect due to your "degenerate" gambling habits (I believe, perhaps incorrectly, casinos view gamblers in this way, and further view counters as thieves). Or what if you played somewhere under a different name, and were spotted by your employer. The negative "what ifs" go on and on and on...

Some casinos employees can gamble there, other casinos you can't. Oftentimes it also depends on your department and which games (tables vs machines vs bingo/etc.).

I wouldn't count cards at a casino I'd work at, or any other obvious AP stuff (like HC or any advanced play where if caught you'd get kicked out). But if it's something like FPDW or drawings (that you'd be eligible for) or milking mailers....etc., then I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I personally would not. I make way better money at my current job. If something were to happen and I couldn't do my current job, I would heavily consider becoming a dealer or a college professor.

If I was offered the job of CEO, I'd take it and immediately vote myself an increase in salary.

I would not accept casino employment, just as I would not consider working for a tobacco company, street criminal gang, or other major contributors to the ills of society.

I knew someone who worked as a bartender at a casino in a casino town. The job paid all the bills and s/he AP'd when s/he was off. Made a ton of money in a few years then moved away.

For surveillance, I'll give it a thought. Gives you inside info on their tactics to spot an AP. I'm sure the Pit Boss communicates with they eye in the sky to give direct play by play of flagged individuals. BJ is fast paced and there's too many tables & action going on for ground staff to keep track of in the moment. It's a double edge sword but ultimately, I'd rather take their money then be on a payroll.

Would you be willing to take a lie detector test?

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
