    Hand Interaction Plays

In Fred Renzey's book Blackjack Bluebook II, he gives positive and negative hand interactive plays for splits. He says you should participate in another player's split (if they agree to it) for 2,2 and 3,3 when the dealer has a 5 or 6 (makes sense), but you should try to pawn off this split when the dealer has a 2 or 3 since this split is for the purposes of losing less money (again, makes sense).

Question: What about when the dealer has a 4? Is this a positive or negative EV split when the player has a pair of 2, 3 or 7s? This scenario is not discussed in his book.

As a more general question is there a place I can find which splits against which up cards are positive and which ones are negative EV?

    Thanks!

It depends on what game you are playing:

Thank you Three! This is helpful! I know understand why Renzey didn't include what to do when the dealer has a 4 in his book.

This table is much easier to read :

    https://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/appendix/1/

any positive return split should be chosen. 2,2 v 4 returns +0.059 or basically 6% roi. even 2,2 v 7 has a positive return although 3,3 v 7 does not.

    88 v 9 or T have negative returns.

The table may be easier to read, but you must understand that it is for infinite deck (which no one plays) and for a specific set of rules. The point made above was that changing the rules changes whether the splits mentioned would be positive or negative e.v.
