When a ploppy keeps nagging you to play the side bets

I left work early to hit the table for a couple of hours on Wednesday and this lady sits down next to me and starts playing. Immediatly she starts playing all of the side bets, tri-lux and 777 and of course wins a bit and then keeps shoveling out cash. After about 20 mins she starts trying to push me to play the side bets. By this point I am up $250 or so ( just red chipping ) and starts on how lucky I am and all of that.. I tell her I just never have the luck to play those bets but she won't let it go. Now she started off with $300 buy in and is down to just $50 or so within the hour and all that hour she just keeps pushing, making a big deal about how lucky I am when I keep making some good bets and winning ( Now I am up to $400 and started coloring up some of my red chips for black to make my chip stock smaller ) After the shoe ended I ask the dealer to color up what I have left in red and I get ready to find another table so I can ditch this lady but by this time the last of her money is gone and she is off to the buffet. I guess I learned my lesson, never play on buffet night again.. and afterwards it might have been smart of me to just throw out a few red chips to get this lady to back off the nagging and play some side bets..

An elderly couple jumped in and played 4 or 5 rounds and then left. It was me playing solo originally then side bet sally sat down and things slowed down.. When the elderly couple left a guy sat down and played out the shoe so for the bulk of the time it was 3 of us playing.. It was a good couple of shoes for me and I had hit some nice bets when the count went positive. But I was just red chipping (just practice play at the local casino I play at). In hindsight, playing a few side bets wouldn't have broke the bank and it adds to the camoflage I guess... It's just not about counting and rembering what index play to play... so much more.

Advise on which side bets. Some are worth playing - there’s math behind everything. Kings Bounty and Lucky Ladies have a 20% + house edge but have real value in higher true counts. Lucky Lucky (without pay out alteration) has a 2.6% house edge with value in extreme positive and negative counts, etc., etc.

You don’t need the best specialized count if playing solo - you can get value by strategies tied to your primary count. By the way, can work with sporadic play or even ramping in concert with TC - depending on the side bet - Food for thought.

The tables offer 3 side bets you can play.. Tri-lux, Fortune and blazing 7's... The progressive for the 7's was around $35k I believe. I checked on all three and I didn't think they were that good.

Not really familiar with those. Mind you, the progressives on bj are new to my area - really slows down the game - another reason for heads up preference.

Just ask if they want to play your spot on the side bet. At a glance, it makes you look like a side bet playing ploppy, and a lot of people tip when you hit a big payout. Most important thing is keep the ploppies happy so they don't squawk and draw attention to your play.
