    Hole card knowledge

    Look at this example:

3 card poker, house edge 3.5%
Knowing 1 hole card, player edge 3.5%
    (Rough but VERY close percentages)

Now lets say you know a hole card 50% of the time. Is it (50% × PE) - (50% × HE)
    .5(.035) - .5(.035) = 0

So if you know a hole card 50% of the time you're playing an exact break even 3CP game?
May the Variance be with you.

Here in California at the card rooms (Non-Indian Gaming), the dealer exposes 1 out of his 3 cards. Even showing 1 card the odds are still around 1.8% edge for the Ante/Play wager in favor of the house.

Even with 100% read, 3CP is not a good game because the variance is off the wall. Grosjean mentions in his book that most 3CP HC players wind up losing.

The player gets an edge of 3.5% when knowing 1 hole card in 3 card poker. Your game out there must be a different game.

You have to only play good games. Its a higher edge than blackjack when in a good game. Of course, it is the worst of the hole carding selections

bankCA's game isn't the same as regular TCP.

Blueman, if you can get a 100% accurate read 50% of the time (and a no read the other 50%), then yes, you'd be playing an overall 0% HE game. However, if you're getting a read 50% of the time, that probably means you are not getting an accurate one, which can be very costly.
