    4,4 in a D9-11 game

Do you still split 4,4 if you can only double on hard 9 10 11? Any other adjustments on the split hands that should be made?
May the Variance be with you.

I don't have a chart for that, but the logic says yes, as long as there is DAS. Another 4 for an 8 count, and the play would be to split again. The only double you're losing would be A4 v 4.

I play this same DD game and always split 44 vs 4,5,6. If no DAS, then do not split 44s, 22 vs 2,3 or 33s vs 2,3.

4,4 v 4.. only a split at the right true count, no? (True 3 for hi lo/ halves)

You should qualify what you mean by pitch games. It is basic strategy to not split 4,4 vs 4 in double deck games. In single deck games basic strategy is to split 4,4 vs 4. This assumes DAS.

basic You do not split 4,4 v 4 in DD, and in single deck 4,4 v 4 is really at a true 3 after counting each 4 as +1, therefore it is a split listed on basic

The DD games I patronize are dealt from a shoe.

I generated the basic strategy for D9 with DD S17, DD H17. In neither of these games is it basic strategy to split 4,4 vs 4. There were no changes to the basic strategy for splitting due to D9 in either of these games.

Turns out, I didn't have to do this, since Ken Smith's basic strategy engine supports D9 and confirms this result.

I didn't clarify my answer, which I should have done, that splitting 44 v 4 is okay at the proper true count, that it would not be basic. Thanks for clarifying.

They are pulled from the shoe that boasts a cut card. I have also played single deck with the same arrangement.
