Thread: The dealer told me, "I know you are counting."

The dealer told me, "I know you are counting."

From nowhere, this dealer suddenly said to me, "I know you are counting."

It took me by surprise, but I immediately replied, "Thanks. I think. I heard of counting. But I am not that smart."

First, this young dude is not that smart. When other much smarter dealers have no clue that I am counting, I cannot imagine he figures this out. Anyway, this guy has typical alpha male personalty. He can't stand anyone winning at his table. When ploppies are winning, he will do anything to rattle the cage, like touching your bet, ignoring your hand signal, keeping asking if this is really what you want to do, encouraging other players to make non-BS action, etc. After he took the last chip of whom he doesn't like, he smiled. After the ploppy took more money from the wallet, he would have a sad face. (He thought he has won, but the ploppy extended the game.) I thought I manged him well enough to have him on my side, but today he was phishing on me.

I would say report to management, but...you know how that will go.

Hmm. Could you submit one of those "questionnaire" things that is supposed to be anonymous and report the dealer there?

    "How was your experience?"
"Well, *Chad* ruined it for me and Miss Flow, we will not return until *Casino Name* features friendly staff and will take our action elsewhere."

Make it known that not only will you leave, but other ploppies will not accept this sort of hostility. It sounds like he hates his job. I recommend he takes his 'skills' elsewhere and apply them in a shady backroom bar where he would be welcome.

If I think I have an AP at my table, I will make sure that canoe will tip this trip. Smile, Mr. Dealer, you have an ally collecting what is rightfully both of yours!

Don't deal with him personally, that *WILL* get you in OSN...but not for counting!

That is why I said he is not smart. When he is happy, he smiles. When he is sad, he has a long face. Many dealers hired by the casino at the same time have been promoted to management. I bet he got many complaints.

Some dealers are often bored to death and are trying to create their own entertainment. Try to avoid the person, but if you cannot, and he or she continues being a real pain in the ass, payback is in order. Subtly, but in no uncertain terms let him/her know that regardless of outcome there is not going to be a one dime tip.

A pit guy thanked me after a dealer, with 2 ploppies and me at table, kept saying I should do as the other ploppies were doing, betting on the poker bet and the Top up bet (with huge odds). Because I did not want to offend the other ploppies, I simply stated that I only play BJ. Every time my hand would have won a poker bet ($5 pays $45), she would point it out and state it's where real money is won. Finally, on one hand where I had two Queens with a dealer Queen up (would have won me $500 on a $5 bet), she and the ploppies howled in disgust. I was seething inside. The good part was that a ploppy asked and started playing my poker spot, won a few times, token me $5 but soon lost all his money and left.

I told the pit guy I am never playing when she was dealing the one DD game and he thanked me for the tip, said he will switch dealer out if I wanted to continue playing, that he would talk to her.

Dealer's that try to figure out how to get you to tip better can be worked with in many cases. You 2 just have to end up on the same page concerning what will get you to tip. Dealers that do certain things are worth tipping.
I would apply caution as some may imply that is collusion.

I would have looked at him with a confused look and said......counting? I wish I could! Lets go, deal. If he said any more, just look at him again and be a dick....what the fuck man, I have no clue what you're taking about. Deal the cards already.......

That is what I did. Da Nile ain't just a river in Egypt ...

Once again, when accused of being a counter, stay clam and just denial.

What kind of boss is that, when his employee just wants to make the company more money?

A good one if the employee is driving away players even if her intentions are good.

Why play against the type of dealer described in the original post? I like friendly, happy dealers that deal cards, not arrogant dickheads. The only thing I can think of for why I personally would play against a PaiGowDan Jr. type of dealer would be to pull their chain! Go in disguise, no ID, and intentionally try to hit every nerve, make them paranoid, have some fun? Make sure to have an eye on the exit and leave before they can call in a SWAT team on you. It certainly wouldn't for money or anything that is going to be productive. High risk for nothing more than pure entertainment value is what that would amount to.

I like to avoid any nonsense and lay low. One way to be more successful on that mission is to not have a dealer throwing in their two cents, making any potentially false assessments about the players, attracting attention to the table, making idle speculations as to what players they think may be counters, etc. I've had a few issues with specific dealers over the years that I found disturbing. I simply avoid those dealers, those pit supervisors, that shift, all the way down to that casino if I have to. Blackjack is rigorous enough already without having to play against dickheads. This type of personality for a dealer will chase off a broad spectrum of players, not just AP's.
