    Would you play this game...

DD, double 9-11, no DAS, H-17, dealt face up, $25 min. You can only play two hands if the second hand has twice minimum AND if you start with 2 hands. You cannot increase to two hands if you start with 1 hand or switch from 2 hands to one hand and back. The positive is that the pen is 80%. No heat spreading 1-8 and max bet under $200.

I started out at two hands ($50 on one, $25 on the other) and stayed with it at neutral or positive count, dropped to one hand at first negative count (course, if count turns positive again, you cannot go back to two hands). Basically, a starting bet of $75 and then strictly by count. In 40 minutes, went down $450, up $300 and down again, leaving the table with $165 win after three ploppies joined (cause I did not think the rules would support playing with 4 at table). Only one DD table in the joint.

Its about a 90 minute drive from my future home. I think I can get a heads up or two people game during the day on most days before 3:00 p.m. The table only opens at 11:00 a.m. Considering including it in future rotation.

Yes, I'd play - at 80% pen and a 1-8 spread, the SCORE is through the roof on that game. Should be an easy $50 per hour. Get to it before somebody else burns it.

probably just better off playing one hand all the time while heads up. seems like a great game despite the restrictive rules. at least u won't have to worry about those night mare splits where you split, split double, double and lose all

Sounds like a good game, the pen is what saves it as those rules are junk. Play it!

Thanks guys. By starting two hands, I thought I would have a bigger spread. A minimum $25 bet and a max of 2 x $200. I believe the dealer would call out "checks play" if bigger bets are placed. The negative is $75 on table at the start...sort of.

My guess is that you won't last long at 2x$200 at that game. May be your first backoff.

Question for all the pro's here: For double deck, isn't an 8-1 spread using an industry standard count a HUGE tip-off? Wouldn't a lower spread be warranted using more indices to fight off the huge house edge that Zee is playing?

DD is not easy to play without being caught. I wouldn't spread beyond 2 x 150, starting with 2 x 25 and keeping two hands no matter what. The rules are poor, but if it's really 80% pen, which is unheard of, that makes up for a lot of sins.

But, you really have to play around with the amounts bet on the two hands and not be too mechanical. There's art and finesse to DD that doesn't exist to the same extent in shoes, and straight bet variation by the count will probably be very difficult to pull off. That said, if you could play mechanically, the SCORE is very good.

As has been said before many times, and it is so true.

Deep pen makes up for a multitude of sins.

Don, in that game you are not allowed to bet 2 x 25.

yah as per OP you can either bet 1 x 25 or if you want to play two hands the minimum is 1 hand of 25 and 1 hand of 50. Which is a particular rule I have never encountered although forcing you to go to 2 x 50 is fairly common in my experience (though many stores will let you play up to three at table minimum).

Sorry about that. I read how he bet but didn't realize he was forced to do it that way.
