I have shuttered our windows for Hurricane Irma, and procurred all requisite supplies. So, apparently I have a tad too much time on hand waiting for the storm to hit, and figured That while I anxiously await its arrival, I would pose that question.

This could be what should be, where error has occurred to once was, and will likely be again.

Frank, I wish you and your loved ones to be safe and well through this horrendous experience.

Thank you very much for those kind thoughts!!!

I failed in my efforts to convince her that we should ride out the storm at the local casino. Thought she would accept my "unbiased" opinion that the casino is probably the safest and stingiest (Oops, meant strongest) structure in this area. She just would not accept my argument that the casino likely would have paid the extra construction costs up front, to protect against room rental losses that might result if construction was completed in a shoddy manner.

Oh well. I guess she and I will have several days of quality time together. Just her and me. Bet she begs for me to go to the casino by Monday, if not earlier. It will either be that, or more quality time together, all alone.

Oddly, the safest place is probably in one of the nuclear reactors with six foot steel-reinforced walls, assuming the backup generators don't fail.

I used to like storms. But, I'd get out of Dodge for this. A goodly part of my favorite island, St. Martins, is in sad shape. And they have long experience with hurricanes. Luck be with you.

    Thanks Norm.

As for reactor safety (now there's a political question for debate), I would be extremely worried if anyone attempted to gain access to shelter there in these times.

    Hurricane checklist:

    Evacuation - n/a, live 17 miles inland at the highest natural point in region;

    Shutters - check
    Water - check
    Bread - check
Radio, flashlights and batteries - check
    Peanut butter - check
    Canned foods - check
Apples, pairs and bananas - check
    Medicine - n/a
Full tank of gas - check

House built with pre-cast concrete (no wood other than trusses inside roof).

Serious storm, but better prepared than many for this event.

Will post periodically until storm hits, and after assuming internet access.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Three, "Go Pats"!

Frank, your woman's concern was not about shoddy construction work on the casino, it had everything to do with the possibly of you being caught counting cards, and being fully trespassed from the property at the worst possible time. She would then have said to the security staff that she never saw this man before in her life. Sorry for the light humor, good luck with everything.

    Just a thought.

Thought you might want to make your posts more readable - I thought it was Greek at first.

    Just a thought....

    P.s. love you Don!

Don is likely to chastise you, as the commentary originally belongs to 3, to which Don was responding. In other words, not his verbiage.

Whatever Don wants to do to me won't approach the albino monk self flagelation from da vinci code scene that is my internal narrative.

Concordidly, forums, like card counting, were made for - and by - masochists.

If you ever want to have your autobiography ghost-written I'd be happy to do it.

Or if you just want to hang out with some ghosts...

Edit. And that's the proper way to spell concordantly in the form of Ned Flanders

Edit II. If the way you shotgun-blasted your post with unnecessary commas is any indication of the battle ahead I think my odds of winning are even better than the odds that tthree's post will be at least two paragraphs.
