    Where is the camera pointing

It was mention here some time ago to hide the winning chips called "?" , so when color up, you do not appear to win a lot. My question is , is the camera in the sky only pointing to the table or point to the player, if it also point to the player, no matter what you do, they know.

Next time you are at your casinos, just take a gander at the ceiling. Where I play, there seem to be as many cameras as there are chips in the tray. They point in all directions. Unless you get a visit to the actual EITS room, assume they can see you from all angles. Hiding chips is referred to as "ratholing". There are various opinions on whether or not it is a good idea with smaller denominations, but to rathole blacks or higher is generally assumed to be a higher risk. If caught this will lead to them assigning all missing chips to your account.

At last count, MGM had 1,400 cameras.

At my local casino there are multiple cameras watching every table. This includes at least one at eye level hidden inside the metal column that displays the minimum bet size. The idea is that it can see the cards as well as the dealers and players hands at all times. The dealer and player can never exchange cash or chips directly as both are counted on the felt prior to and/or after a hand, roll of the dice or spin of the wheel. It is this camera that picks up past posting and player/dealer collusion. The EITS is more general and can be blocked by hats which are permissible in some cases.

Just because they can see you doesn't mean they are looking at you. I'm not saying they never look at you, but they aren't watching you 24/7.

You've likely seen a magic trick where something disappeared or appeared out of nowhere....just because you saw the magician's hands doesn't mean you know what he did.

True, but you would have to be a very good magician to fool multiple cameras looking at you from several directions and you don't know when they're watching you and when they're not. I guess Dustin Marks might get away with it but most dealers and/or players don't have his skills. In any case the close in high resolution cameras are overwhelmingly used to solve disputes and the images are recorded for future use if necessary.

Last night at my local store it was very crowded - pit bosses running everywhere just trying to keep up - many crowded table games, etc. This wasn't Las Vegas, so my guess is that the EITS had very limited resources relative to the action on a crowded Saturday night. So I felt very comfortable wonging and using a large bet spread. Didn't have to rathole - they were too busy to ask for a player's card.

1400 camera doesn't mean there are 2800 eyes watching those cameras. However, the tapes can be reviewed if you are drawing attention to yourself. There are ways to "rathole" that are not as obvious as reaching into your pocket.

Let's assume they are paying someone $40k to watch the Monitors. They have to watch so many things from other games to employees to slots, entrances, etc. How many are assigned to just watching BJ games, especially the low stakes ones? Don't the casinos have to consider whether the cost is even worth it?

I have seen lots of dealer errors over the years and only one time where a dealer was replaced shortly after starting his shift (probably because he had moved from a 6 deck face up shoe game to a face down 2 deck game, was allowing Doubledowns after splits and soft doubling (DD game was double 9-11 only)).

In small regular dominated casinos, I think surveillance only occurs upon pit requesting it and it's quite rare except likely when an unrated green chip player sits down.

Tthree, you are one hell of an AP, right up there with the character Carnac The Magnificent, that the late Johnny Carson often played.

Shame on you. The least you could have done was to provide a link.
