You average 150 rounds per hour playing 2 hands per round. Assuming you meant rounds and not hands and you play 500 hours a year that's 75,000 rounds per year and 150,000 hands per year. I think 500 hours is about par for the course for a pro if he is hunting for quality hours. If you play 1000 hours of whatever you happen to find you will probably be lucky to average around 60 rounds per hour. That's 60,000 rounds per year or 120,000 hands. So for the selective player about 6.5 years to get in 1,000,000 hands and for the indiscriminate player playing twice as many hours per year it would take around 8 years to play 1,000,000 hands.

Everytime through a single deck is about 6.5 hands straight up. 16 times through is 104 hands. I suppose if you count double downs as an extra hand it would be a few more. Splits and/or going two hands doesn't account for more hands because it generally forces an earlier shuffle. I write down the number of hands played after each session by knowing how many decks were dealt. Quality hands is the key. No wonder y'all experience such high variance.

They won't shuffle if they know why you spread to 2 hands.
