The term "consistency" is a blackjack bugbear of mine !
It is not latently absurd. It is patently absurd.


In the minds of the innumerate, "consistency" as a concept has gravitas.
It has no place in a discussion of basic strategy, but it can be
bandied about as a form of camouflage. How you say ? Read on.


I cannot imagine just how many times in the last 30 years I have heard a dealer
intone, (with a seriously silly scent of pompous expertise), words to the effect:
"It doesn't matter what you do. You just need to be consistent."


If I am sufficiently bored, (as is typically the case), I will actually impede the game's
progress by piping up -- interjecting "Oh, I get it! That means you can be wrong
100% of the time or correct 100% of the time. I think that I will flip a coin; then
I will be correct HALF of the time ! HEY ! The BEST way to go is to trust my hunches !"
Note: emphasis on the ending as my voices rises in volume and pitch as I proceed.
Back to what I said above about "camo'" --


My comment can provide a means of fending off a comment like
"You must be some kinda' weirdo counter card reader character I
heard about once." The comment (or more pointedly, the thoughts)
are actually "pre-empted" by my comment !
