Conversing with ploppies, dealer or critters while keeping perfect count should be a second nature skill, as in automatic.

I can talk and count at the same time. It was just against his commandments.

Comportment, style and persona reasons require that skill. Good to hear.

And you keep that day job for a reason (or 3 or 4). We play in some of the same places I'm sure. I'm already kind of keeping an eye out for a fun loving, drinking, chatty, someone, who looks like a counter, as you have previously said you don't worry too much about cover. You a blonde? Saw one that fits the bill.

If you are really in it for the fun of going to casinos, well then, have fun.

I love my day job. I keep it because I like it and I went to school for it. I put in all that effort to get a stupid piece of expensive paper so I'm gonna frigging use it. Even if I made enough counting, I would still keep my day job. If I didn't find it fun, I would quit. Life's too short to not enjoy what you do.

I enjoy counting for the sake of counting. The novelty of casinos wore off a while ago. Often there's smoke, it's loud, it's freezing, and ploppies are obnoxious. I enjoy the mental aspect. There's always something new to learn or do. Maybe I want to track a slug, sequence certain cards, or add another side count. It's also extremely repetitive and I oddly enjoy that. I like that it makes money. There's tons of books to read. I have another thing to obsessively plug into spreadsheets and analyse. I get to act and be social. I do have fun and thanks, I hope I continue to. ^_^

Maybe you missed that because you were too busy watching the Red Sea part. But then again, maybe my chronology is a little off.
I guess DAVID got severance pay.

Who said anything about sexual im/morality?

The Ape Man merely said that an AP should not be accosted by hookers while carrying the trip BR.

I suspect that he would also issue the same proclamation regarding being accosted by ploppies, gang members, vagrants, beggars, homeless people, and girl scouts selling cookies. YMMV.
Atta girl. A question to those that play for a "living." Are you living a normal life?
Fenix I meant it when I said have fun. See what I bolded in your quote, I agree. Always have. But when I was younger I was very job oriented, all the things you listed about the variety of BJ I would have been applying to the job I was fully committed to. I did, and of course it led to success, what I was after, and I found it very enjoyable.
And that's why I bolded the part in Moses' quote. You could have called me a workaholic. Was I leading a "normal" life? For a lot of similar people sure I was, for others, no, and I had ways to go out and have fun outside of work, had to spend that money somehow. I don't think making money out of casinos is any less normal than anything else, same motivations are going to apply. And I do agree about the mental exercise, I see it as a very nicely complicated puzzle to solve, only reason I took it up. But I expect to excel, just like my corporate America days. Guess I still have a lot of the workaholic attitude, lol.
Although I don't see it as a place to socialize. Far too many people there who are just demonstrating a lack of intelligence and/or self control. And the casinos themselves are too greed driven to be nice places. The one thing I do enjoy away from the tables is having a lot of nice meals for free.
Glad to see you are thinking about adding counts as I don't believe anyone just counting one number(or two) is doing nearly enough.; Your focus seems to be mental recreation. Enjoy.

No. I fish and hunt and go out a lot more than I did working 60 hours a week making diddly squat by comparison. Don't have to play much but there is so much work done outside casinos and scouting that the time played is a small fraction of the work done. Doing most of that work at home is nice though. Being able to choose when to do it is priceless. Of course I let casino conditions determine when I play. I have no control over when my best chances are to find the conditions I seek. Scouting tells me when, where and with what dealers and pit crew my best chances lie.

That poor tall guy got killed twice. Once by the stone and once from getting his head cut off. Perhaps something was lost in translation. Or maybe it was a metaphor for cutting the head off the enemy's forces thus killing the enemy.

To me, "making a living" meant everyone had their own room, college educations were paid for, filling up 4 cars on Sunday night so everyone had gas for the week. Insurances, taxes, dorm fees OMG im feeling sick. I couldn't have done it solely on blackjack earnings. Let alone the pressures that go along with it. What do you mean you lost $200...that was our grocery money for Monday and Tuesday. Really? Yes, milk is expensive. And don't think you are getting lucky here either.

I prefer to view it as a lucrative hobby. Perhaps a reward for the years above endured.
All those obligations have to be taken care of, no doubt. No kids of my own. Raised two of the second wife's, But when she went nuts and decided her problem child would be running everyone's life, I can't say I'm sorry she took that insanity on the road. But yup, for years, up every day(and I mean EVERY day) to go to work because that was what defined me, was just a fact of life.
So I'm pretty solitary these days, no kids, no grand kids. But I would have no problem explaining to a class of kids that there is more than one way to view life.
I think I've said it on here before, but something that always stuck in my mind was an interview I saw decades ago with a few successful entrepreneurs, and every one of them said that a big key to success was that the vast majority of people think far, far, too small. That is absolutely true. Of course to be successful thinking really big, you have to have a lot of ability as well.

As I said in the last post, I guess I still have some of that drive, because I've never been satisfied at anything until I'm really good at it, if it's something I've decided I can really do.
The guitar has plumb evaded me. Stone ear.
