Car License Plate Scanners at Casinos.

Is it legal for Casinos to look up car owner name and info using their license plate scanners in Canada? I thought we have the PIPEDA ( personal information protection and electronic documents act) that protects the privacy or the unwanted intrusion of privacy and the violation and exploitation of those rights. What the hell Casino Industry??

They don't have to look up your information if they put the plate on a known AP list. Not sure about the law.

    2 scenarios.
-you've been identified as an AP, and tracked to your car. They have your license (or personal vehicle). They do not have your address.
-they have your address via your license number

Since law enforcement is the primary vehicle for this type if information, private business, such as casinos having your information is blatantly illegal.

If the casino involved us on tribal land, then, the casino simp,y goes to the tribal police. If the casino is not on tribal land, then information has to be a leak, as in a contact with the police, or through an car insurance company that is ebpntitked to certain information.

If you suspect that your personal information has been compromised, then confirm your suspicions as much as possible, and lay
Complaints with both gaming and the Feds. If for do e reason, you were required to show Government ID as a result if cumulative buyins or cash outs, your info, by law, is protected by privacy legislation.

The questions arises, however, as to the effectiveness of your complaints.

Unfortunately, this may be illegal and unscrupulous but it is common practice, at least for Metro (LV Police) to provide this information on request to the casinos. Not sure about rest of country but I suspect the relationship casinos have with law enforcement make it rather commonplace.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!
