    New to Vegas; any advice?

    Hello All,

I`m a new Vegas resident (just joined the forum, but have lurked here for a long while) and plan to start counting here soon. I`ve browsed a lot of the posts on here and have gathered a good bit of information over time, but without asking specific questions to those "in-the-know", there`s only so much I guess I`ll find that`s specific to me. So here goes... I`m planning on playing part-time, maybe 15-20 hours a week if possible, focusing only on shoe games, playing unrated, and with a hit-and-run strategy of not playing anywhere very long. One of my main concerns is longevity since I plan on living here for at least a couple years. Obviously I`ll eventually get backed off a lot of places, so even when spreading around my action a lot should I maybe only go for around 10 hours a week to possibly keep the pit personnel`s short term memory of my play/face fuzzier in order to try to last longer? Other things I`m trying to figure out are how closely the shoe games are watched when it comes to wonging. I know heat here is worse than anywhere else in the US, so if I try employing that strategy for even a short matter of time anywhere I feel like there`s a good possibility I`ll out myself way more quickly than just sitting down and spreading for a short time. I don`t have a huge bankroll, but it`s big enough to not have to wong at the $25 min. level games in order to have a low RoR (although those will be the biggest I`ll be playing, spreading somewhere in the area of 1-15), so I`m not sure if wonging would be worth it or not. I`ve noticed in CBJN that there are also some good red chip 8 deck games on the strip; should my spread be drastically cut down in comparison to what I`d be doing at the $25 min. games, or are those games not quite as closely watched? I know that was a lot of questions and that none can really be answered all that easily due to all the variables, but any advice or opinions on what I mentioned or anything else that may help would be greatly appreciated.

Vegas is a toilet. Hit and run is the best strategy and don't expect to find much playable in the way of shoe games on the strip anymore unless you're playing in high limit areas.

I played on the Vegas strip about a year ago and found some decent shoe games at the M-Life properties, Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand. I believe they all had 6D, S17, DAS, LS with $25 min. I've heard these games are very sweaty but I didn't encounter any heat (although I only played for about 1 hour at a time). Are these games not around any more?

Aria still has a good shoe game by Strip standards. Try DT casinos, too.

The games are good, but the tolerance is not. I hit one shoe at MGM (unrated) at 2x500 and I lost. Played only 30 min. Later that evening I walked into a sister-property and got backed off before I could even buy in. I'm convinced MLife props are unplayable at mid-stakes or higher.

Almost all have good games if you can afford $50 or $100 mins.
The only strip casino I saw with low stakes 3:2 was TI.

Amazing. They'll take $3,000 in EV per hour from a terrible player but are afraid to get hit for $50-$100 an hour from a card counter.

Wondering? Do any of the 6:5 games give better rules, like s17, etc. to moderate the house edge a bit?

Look at it this way. Why would they give you better rules when you're already getting screwed with 6:5. The dummies playing it don't have a clue, and will gleefully explain to new p,ayers, with a smile and excitement galore - its 6:5.

I promise there are plenty of "low stakes" 3:2 games on the strip. If you mean low stakes is $10-$15.

I was there last weekend and went to all strip casinos, every single pit and TI was the only place where I saw 3:2 under $25 min.
Then again, it was a weekend and I scouted on peek hours (and surely must have missed some spots).
Perhaps during weekdays and at off hours one can find better options?

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I had heard that all the M-Life properties were ridiculously sweaty.

You can sometimes find 3:2 8D shoes at some of the CET properties. And Hooters has 3:2 games, but they're just a little off the strip.
