Hi all! I hate when this question comes up! When someone asks what you do for living, i dont like to say casino! What else can I say!? I have heard maybe say Im a statistical probability analyzer! haha. What are some creative things you can tell them without actually lying!? What about, i work in 'insurance' and i analyze when is the best time to give insurance to people!

I'm currently engaged in a fluid exchange of recreational commerce, decision making of random probability through valid statistical analysis, including standard deviation of that analysis allowing for calculation of acceptable variance occurrences.

Hopefully, that will shut them up.

I think he's at it full time. I can say I'm semi retired, etc, i think he since he wants to tell the truth. I like my answer - of course, it can still be enhanced with some more creative bullshit.

These are all good! But then what about the follow up question? Which company you work for?! Self employed investments?

I'm here in the middle of the day, and there will be no repercussions. I guess that means I'm the boss.

Funny thing about people. They tell you all about themselves and somehow think they know you.
Extension of illusion is not a bad thing. There are guys I do business with who think I'm a great guy, which I am, and that I think highly of them. In many cases, I do - in some - I deal with pigs. Excuse me for a few minutes while I email one of the latter.

I tell them I'm retired. When I was younger I told them I was an attorney working for Federal Government and can't discuss my work.

My local shop has someone playing 8 to 10 hours a day, seven days a week. When people asked what he is doing for living, he said he is a private investigator so he has plenty of spare time to play in casino. I think it is a good cover profession.

One good answer I saw from an AP is that he owns a restaurant, so he needs to constantly check his employees over the phone.

When the true count turns negative.

But a funny thing happened. Someone asked the name of the restaurant he owned. The AP gave the name of a small restaurant that people seldom visist. The ploppy said he is a regular there.

This is an excellent topic for a board and it's an issue that I have experienced too. I'm surprised by a lot of the answers here though. I personally would never answer with a job that reeks of intelligence, especially one that testifies to an intelligence of money, no matter how boring it may sound.

When they ask me, I just say I'm a stripper! Most of the time, they give me a quick "look-over." It's funny to observe them trying to decide if they think that I'm serious or not! I'm a fit guy, but you can tell that they just aren't sure whether to believe me or not! You can see the wheels turning as they try to decide "is he kidding?" Watching them do this, they usually are so engrossed of the possibility of it that they do not think to ask "no, really, what do you do?"

I did have somebody follow up by asking my stripper name one time. I needed a name so I quickly looked over at a slot machine with the name "spin devil." I read it backwards and got the name "livid nips" and instantly blurted it out (yes, I know the second "i" in "livid" should be an "e" so it's not perfect, but that's what I saw). That has been my stripper name ever since. This name just spawns more laughs due to what I can only imagine is disturbing imagery for the inquirer.

    Hey, it works.
