Is there any possible way that you could get in legal trouble by returning to a casino on a later date to play blackjack when they backed you off just by verbally saying, "You are not allowed to play blackjack here anymore."
Unless you're served notice of trespass, you can go back. Having said that, I certainly would not go back unless your intent is to get into and stir up a lot of unnecessary trouble. Its very likely that no paperwork was done over whatever happened if it was a verbal back off. Whatever shift you were backed off on, I would avoid like the plague.
I seriously would not advise doing what you're intending to do. No possible outcome could return positive results.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!
They would likely officially trespass you from the premises if they recognize you. If they make the mistake and forcibly backroom you or detain you you have a legal case against them and would likely cash in for a five figure settlement. I'll note, if it's a tribal casino all bets are off.
Technically, you should be okay. This isn't to say that (if brought to court) casino personnel wouldn't perjury themselves and say you were trespassed on some prior date. Whether you're right or wrong doesn't matter much if you end up losing. The casino may have had something else in mind when they verbally said "no more blackjack". Your next return could end up getting detained by security and arrested for "trespassing".
I'm not saying this will happen or is even somewhat likely. IMO, it's probably for the most part a non-existant issue, at least for me and likely most players. If someone is a police officer, a lawyer, or something in that type of field, getting arrested for trespassing (even if it is bogus) could be very bad for your real career. (Or if you're on probation, where perhaps getting arrested for any reason is not something you want to have happen.)
I'm not saying this to scare you, and more than likely you'll be just fine. But just because people say "you have nothing to worry about" doesn't make it so.

As noted above, Id avoid going back to a tribal unless you have knowledge of how it will be handled from other players who've had the same experience, always be wary of the ambiguous legal environment of native casinos.
Otherwise general advice that should work in most situations is that you can probably get some play if you minimize the likelihood that you're remembered or noticed. If you're not way too well known probably wait at least a year, longer is better, come back on a different shift at a time when it's reasonably busy, use a betting unit that will blend in, and don't pitch a tent. Generally you should be able to get some EV without excessive risk with said approach, but you should have no expectations that the store will ever be a primary earner for you again.
