Counting 9 as minus 1 vs counting it as 0

Would someone please pull my coat as to why it is not a good idea to count 9's as a minus card?....I use the Silver Fox strategy which does in fact count them as minus 1.....Thank you for any and all replies.....ronster

The insurance correlation of the count get worse. Insurance is the most valuable index.

Two main reasons are it hurt you accuracy for insurance bets and playing a hand of 12 versus a stiff.

Counting 9's (the same as tens) overestimates advantage,
    resulting in over-betting.
Having ANY rank other than 10 as a negative value cripples
    Playing Efficiency.

Each rank has an E. O. R. (Effect of removal)
A thorough understanding of this bedrock B J
concept is a prerequisite to learning the basic
    principles of blackjack.

You can't get a blackjack with a 9 to put it simply.

What actually happens is the range around the average advantage estimate for a betting bin (usually a TC) becomes larger (wider advantage bell curve for the TC bin). In other words you bet less accurately. You bet is based on an accurate average advantage for the bin but the frequency the actual advantage is further off and the likelihood the actual advantage is further off of the average advantage for the bin is higher. BC doesn't say anything about betting accuracy. The width and shape of those advantage bell curves for the actual deck compositions that make up the betting bin around the average advantage estimate for your betting bin does.
