I love Jabberwocky's Level Three Count.
As it is a Single Deck game, this count
is easier than it looks.
Playing Heads Up I would make some wild-ass
bets with 2 or 3 units "off the top" and spreading
as far as 20-1 if "heads-up", and 30-1 with one
other player. With more players I 'd leave the table.
Has anyone ever accidentally sat down and played 6:5 blackjack? I admit I've done it on a few occasions and then felt like a dumbass when I realized I was playing 6:5. The last time was at a local that has 6:5 on single and double deck and $2 six decks. I was back counting a $10 table and when it reached TC+3 I jumped in 3rd base with a $100 bet and was dealt a natural and the lady paid it off and I started complaining she shorted me and then she pointed to the sign. Doh. The TC now went to +5 after the plops ate some low cards and I was reluctant to play but how could I leave a positive shoe and upped bet to $150 and received blackjack again. That was it count tanked that hand and I was getting ready to leave and the plops couldnt understand why I'd leave after b2b blackjacks. Oh yeah whats funny is this place has side by side $5 6 decks one is 3:2 other is 6:5 and there are times the 3:2 sits empty and the 6:5 is packed.
Also another time in Vegas some time ago I ran across the SF21 game and couldn't believe this gem of a game I found with all the favorable player rules and it was single deck. Wow I thought this was the place for me til after played a half hour or so when I finally got a BJ and the payoff wasnt 3:2. Another slap in the forehead moment.
In a game with such a high House Edge and a limited number of
rounds one must be aggressive but it takes a very strong count
to more than double a bet.
I would set tripling my bet as the maximum aggression to apply.
In a shoe game or a nicely cut DD game only morons, degenerates,
drunks, and amateur card counters will more than double a bet or
more than half it. That is a 100% clear and obvious direct route to
a barring and worse.
Greed kills.
