    Indices and number of decks

Hi all. We know the BJ games with different number of deck(s) have different B.S. However when it comes to indices it is the same with the count whether at the top or at the end of shoe or number of decks in play. Does index change similar to Floading Advantage?

Basic Strategy AND indices for violating Basic Strategy are
BOTH different depending on the number of decks AND on
the rules in effect, especially dealer's Hit or Stand on Soft 17.

The indices do not change re: depth of penetration, etc.
That is why we use a "true count" ("count by deck")
for Bet Sizing and for violating Basic Strategy.

    The "floating Advantage" is of no real consequence;
least of all for a beginner.

Thanks Mr. ZenMaster, I read your posts with respect as 1st grade pupil to his teacher. Also the posts from Don S, Norm, T3, Bigdady to name a few great posters.

Interesting term usage, Zenmaster. Haha. Hopefully a more accurate term is varying but your usage is also spot on "in a way".....

When I teach BJ I explain that they are "violations."

Like lesser 'laws', that we choose to often "violate."

When I am training a beginner this is "more or less"
what I do. If they have memorized their Basic Strategy
perfectly, then they can memorize a host of indices signaling
just when NOT TO play as a Basic Strategist.

Counting Down decks / shoes for speed is fine, but they
should be alternated or mixed with Count Downs for Indices.

When strong enough (99% accuracy and reasonable speed),
that is the threshold for practicing, just for accurate betting
/ playing with a mentor (or partner), counting down a shoe and
every 5 minutes call out the R.C., the T.C. and the Index Play
(in T.C.) needed to "violate" the B.S; and their next round bet.
