You really misunderstood Don's chapter on cover play. He never recommended using cover play. He wanted you too be informed on the cost of cover play if you choose to use it despite recommendations not to.

Moses and freighter, just so you guys know, the guy who was making gay threesome jokes pretending to be you is now doing it in the comment section. I was going to leave it up because it's funny, but if either of you object I can take it down.

This is why I tell people to read the whole book and then go back and read each chapter one at a time very slowly to be careful to fully understand its contents and after finishing a chapter go to the casino and put what you learned to practice before starting another individual chapter. I am a pretty smart guy but without complex system mathematical examples some of the stuff is hard to understand. Simple counts it may be unambiguous but with multilevel counts The examples are insufficient to eliminate ambiguity. If I have trouble following things without extremely slow reading I know many have little hope of understanding at the level I am attempting at all. This is all despite the fact that Don is a great commander of the English language. The nice part is he is here to answer questions and appreciates it if the question showed you attempted due diligence before asking it.

Wow, this is a excerpt from a "Team Manual", how would this mislead anyone? Are you looking for something to be wrong or that you don't agree with?

IMHO, if you are not smart enough to read the damn book "in context", then I would question your need to read the book at all! Regardless of new or veteran players. All the comments to "protect" the new players is bullshit, as they are entering a challenging and difficult area and if they are not up to it, then they need to know that as soon as possible. Everyone can not be a card counter, much less a full blown AP.

You apparent need to promote your expertise/website/training may be clouding your own judgement. Be careful no to confuse opinions you want to publicize with the facts. Categorical, attacks on noted authors without specifics also has the intention of misleading many people. Suggest you use a more thoughtful approach.

Haven't really been to interested in your site, so I haven't seen it. The fact that you think it's funny is a testament to your character, or lack thereof. How you deal with it will be even more so.

"Do you think that your advice on p.293 might possibly put some players on the wrong path?"

Not if they were playing for the stakes that we were! :-) And, if they weren't, it wasn't meant for them, which, to me at least, should have been rather clear from the context of this being a team manual.

    Don,

I'm just speechless. Do you still think the advice on p. 293 is good even in the proper context, a high-stakes team?

You're giving up almost all of your advantage.

I'm sorry, have I ever done anything unethical to you?

Where I'm from, we don't make comments about someone having a "lack of character" without substantial proof. That's the type of thing that could start a fight or legal action. In the future, I suggest you be much more careful about even implying something like that.

I would suggest you consult your post to which the comment was directed, and reflect on the context thereof.

In the future, when someone does you a favor by letting you know that another person is impersonating you, and potentially harming your reputation... you might want to take a different approach.

Like starting with "Thanks for letting me know," and then not shitting on the person that is doing you a favor.

In the study of the costs, I explain how to get back at least half. What good is betting perfectly if you get thrown out everywhere you play? You consider conditions so wonderful today that you have countless opportunities to burn?

That handbook was written for a team of 12 that played A.C. EVERY weekend for about two years, for sizable stakes. I had no interest in seeing how many casinos we could get thrown out of. We did very well, and as I recall, backoffs (or, more accurately, countermeasures) were virtually nonexistent.

Didn't sim your suggested spread. Looked anemic maybe, but still good for 1-1.5 units per hour. Relative to unit size and expense.
