    Comp flight and etiquette...

Say you get an invitation for a short comped flight and room for 2-3 nights. Everyone on flight is in the same boat, all comped. Thus all are rated. Note that some have never played at that property but had a players card and ratings at another property of the chain and thus the invite.

Obviously, they are rating you. Say they decide on your first hour or two that you are a counter and they back you off. Do you get to keep your room and your return flight or are they in jeopardy?

What if you go there, rent a car and play at other casinos. If they do not get any action from you, other than stopping of future offers, any consequences?

what sort of strategy should you use? Give them a few hours with small spread, go to their casinos for your play?

I have never gone anywhere with a group of gamblers, do not know what to expect.

Whether they can kick you out of the room would depend on state law. And I doubt there's case law on the question.

If you stiff them, they might be a little pissed, but it's probably not going to create an issue.

Why not just flat bet or use like a 1-2 spread w/ wonging to satisfy the comp requirements?

I'd have to assume there are several others who use the comped flight to go somewhere for a vacation and stuff the casino.....meaning: it probably happens frequently and the casino realizes and knows this will happen for X% of the comped players. I can't imagine it'd be an issue. Although I'd check the offer to see if it says something like "based on play". If you're worried they'll kick you out of your room or not put you on the flight home for no-playing.....then just play rated for 10-15 minutes. Assuming there's no "based on play" clause, then you didn't stiff them (since you played, whether they like the amount of play or not, doesn't matter.....it just matters that you did play).

    Zee,

Sounds like you got a charter flight to the south? From an M*L*ife prop, right? Don't worry about it. I got backed off by the same property over the phone, before my trip even started! They still let me take the trip, just can't play BJ. As a matter of fact, I booked 3 more (total 4) charter trips to the same property AFTER the phone BO. No problems. I just played the other surrounding casinos and drove to other nearby markets. The amount of money I saved on the free flights and free rooms MORE than makes up for the EV that I lost, by not being able to play that particular property.

You'll be fine man. Frankly, I doubt you'll get backed off anyway. But if you do, you'll still be able to keep your room and take your flight back. Hope you didn't get backed off by the same company in Vegas though (on your last trip). If so, that information may travel back to the property in the south.

You will be OK. If you're otherwise clean at that casino they'll just tell you no more blackjack. If you're concerned about stiffing the junket operator just play baccarat or craps (as long as the casino doesn't tell you no table games). Your junket operator will likely know you've been backed off and won't expect you to play, he just won't put you on any more trips.

Thanks, Ryemo. You guessed it. I wonder if all the participants are bused from the airport to the casino or we could just rent a car at the airport. Where did you rent the car and when? After you got taken to the casino and rented from there or at the airport?

Yep. I was on the company's radar, due to a BO I had in a different market, prior to taking the Charter trip. They were polite. Told me I was welcome to continue forward with my scheduled trip, but made it very clear that I wouldn't be playing any blackjack. Considering that I was on a comped flight and comped room, I complied with their requests. Not to mention, I knew they would be on the look out for me during the trip, so I played elsewhere.

Yes, everyone is bussed from the airport to the property, but each time I went, I didn't go with the group. The car rental companies are at the airport and they're open till 11pm. Just grab your car immediately and drive over to the property. When you go to the front desk to check in, tell them that you're with the Charter group and they'll give you your Welcome Packet.

I won't discuss where I did my playing. You can do the research and figure out what works for you. But if your card is good with the property that provided you the charter, then definitely play there.

I will play there. If conditions are not good or if I win a bit or sense heat, I will go to other properties and play. That way, I keep my comps coming for the future.

I'd like to add that I know many players who've been backed off via phone. It actually isn't that uncommon, unless you're playing unrated or using a 4:1 spread in Reno.
