Laughlin is a waste of time for anyone but coin-playing fleas, and possibly a waste even for them.

Spent a night in Laughlin during a Phoenix vacation. We stayed there on our way to the Grand Canyon, which never materialized as the wife of the other couple we were with developed leg problems. Played 2 0or 3 stores, recalling that all were pretty sweaty.

We stayed at the luxurious Edgewater, displaying state of the art 1920's technology at the front desk. Shower heads were conveniently placed at dick level allowing fir that personal cleansing touch. ROom motif consisted of chipped wall paint, natural carpet dust accumulation and defective internet. I did not make that room reservation.

The blackjack isn't that good and they can be sweaty. All the pen sucks, limited 3:2, red chipping and very light green is all you can do without sticking out like a sore thumb. They give away rooms. I think they recently remodeled the Aquarius, but I haven't seen the rooms to know if they're decent. I almost went to Laughlan this week due to some comp offers, but I had family obligations and didn't want to burn that much PTO.

Surely you jest....Both SD and DD here on the river, with more than favorable conditions....On the $25 min tables if you never spread to more than $50 (1 to 2 units) you can play 24/7 w/o any heat! Especially if you rat-hole the checks & cash them in on another shift.....I've been doing this for 50 years now, and somewhere along the way I had an epiphany, and that is, it is the high plus c that busts most all counters....I now never spread more than 1 to 2 units with an occasional 1 unit press to 3 units after a win....What a difference it has made, it is golden, give it a try!

I found a fair bit of SD there, but it was all 6:5. Has that changed?

6:5 at the Nugget & Harrah's, also on some of the other SD's, but at the Riverside all games are 3:2, and most all the tables at the Riverside are SD.... Harrah's no good on any of their games. On DD they burn about 15 cards from jump...The Trop has great conditions on DD, including 3:2, and you get about 70% pen. Both the Belle and Edgewater have DD with good conditions. The AVI has a great DD also.....What C are you using?

    Laughlin, Nevada is ...

    "Hell on Earth" for A.P.'s

    Average age is about 74

    The Heat level is absurd.

I went to Laughlin this year, lol. That place is s joke for APs. The only reason I went was because I had a Free charter trip there. I took the free flight and hotel, then I rented a car and drove to Vegas and spent the next 3 nights there. The only reason I spent more than a few hours in Laughlin was because the car rental company was closed as soon as I my flight landed. I had to wait till the following morning before I could get my car. I spent a few hrs playing TINY stakes at a few of the casino, just for fun. My understanding is that Laughlin is super sweaty, so I decided to red-chip using tiny spreads to pass the time, while enjoying a beer. I saved all my real play for Vegas.

I really enjoyed my drive from Laughlin to Vegas though. I thought driving through the open desert was pretty cool and I enjoyed the scenery. Just need to watch your speed when driving though Searchlight, as many of the Laughlin locals informed of their speed trap there.

I have been to lv at least once a month for the past couple of years. I usually stop by laughlin for a few hrs or a night to collect fp/comps. It's true about the avg age being 74. It may be higher. Bj sucks for the most part. There are 2 games there that I know of that are worth playing. I have been able to get away with 1-6 green with only a couple goofy critter comments, and 1 b/o. I was advised i was done for the night. I didn't argue. Gave it a couple months, and came back. My game is a little different than most in where I toke small often. Not every hand. Seems to work. Be smart, don't abuse it, and you'll be ok. The rooms are NOT comparable to any nice resort/casino. They suck. They cater to TMB people, and river lice. It's Laughlin! I have driven searchlight hwy dozens of times. Definitely slow down going thru there. Limits drop quick. After and before the town you can see for miles. If you're doing less than 95 you're getting passed. 1 positive about laughlin is it's very easy to get a free room and food. I will be there next week to collect on my way to lv.

You can knock us old timers all you want Zenmaster, (I happen to be 74) and I've been playing/beating BJ for probably longer than you've been alive young fella!....On a quarter table I grind out - give or take - $400 per day, w/o any heat....I've been on this river over 50 years and have never lost a joint in all that time!....I also dealt craps, roulette and BJ all over NV back in the day......And as far as the climate goes, you are wrong again.....The winters here are like Florida, and in the summer the girls ski naked up and down the river. Not to mention we catch monster Stripers year around....The heat in the summer?....You're right, it's not for sissies! But we have an amazing invention here called A/C, so the summers are not only tolerable, they too are great!....Add all the above up and throw in ideal BJ conditions and it becomes "Paradise".....
