Generally, if you change anything in Blackjack, many other things change. However, the hands included in the Ill18 change very little. There are minor differences. For example, with KO playing eight decks, 12v4 isn't useful.
OTOH, betting changes dramatically from system to system, rules, decks, and penetration. First off, you should be betting far more than three times your bet with HiLo in shoe games at +3 if you are not Wonging. As an example of the differences between strategies, here is a table of advantages by count for several counts: Modern Blackjack page 196. Note that this is just for one set of rules and penetration.
