In Vegas right now need advice! Please!

So I'm in Vegas now for a few more days. I brought 1k to mess with on the tables my games are black jack and roulette switching between the two depending on what's hot. Super newb to gambling in general although I've been to Vegas before I don't consistently gamble. Last night I got cheated by some street gamblers like a idiot (I was intoxicated) 200 bucks but I won it all back on free bet at the flamingo on a 5.00 table. Tonight I lost 200 on black jack at the Cromwell and bellagio. Is there a certain amount I should be betting to increase my odds of breaking even on losses? I have access to 20k if need be. My goal is to come out at least 1-2k ahead and gtfo of here with a little change in my pocket. I am playing knowing the pure basics of the game and that's it. I normally hold on 13 as well which I have been told is stupid but it normally pays off I always go over 21 when I hit on 13-14. Please if anyone has any pointers let me know I need all the help I can get. These damn casinos have no sympathy haha! My girl friend on the other hand has all the luck! Thanks for reading I appreciate all and any tips.

This is a forum about advantage play in casinos. You are playing at a disadvantage unless you learn how to count cards or other methods.

You should expect to lose on this trip. The only way you will win is if you get lucky.

In the short period of time you have left, and if you insist on gambling, best thing you could probably do is learn basic strategy - look it up on wizardofodds.com (amongst other places around the net) OR, you might be able to purchase a basic strategy card from one of the shops around the casino you are playing at, and refer to that whilst you're playing. It'll help you with decisions to make based on what you have, vs what the dealer has, regardless, you're probably going to lose.

    Good Luck.

Edit: Oh, and what hitthat16 said.

For Blackjack choose a Blackjack game to play within your budget. Once you chose a blackjack game you want to play. In Blackjack to win in the short run my advice to you is play perfect basic strategy once you are ahead take the money and run!!

If you want to make 1k to 2k get you 20 grand and go for it. If you are young you will have time to make it up. If you are old and don't have earning power you will eat less.

Or you can reduce the house edge to about 1% by following these 7 simple rules:

    1. Stand on hard 12-16 against dealer 2-6.
    2. Double on 10,11 against dealer 2-9.
    3. Always split 8s 9s and aces
    4. Stand on soft 18 or more
    5. Stand on hard 17 or more
    6. If rules 1-5 don't apply, hit
    7. Never take insurance

Indeed, as serious player said, if you are playing for a while and are ahead, take the money and run!

Fla, you are trying to push a rope.

The games you are playing are designed to remove your money at a percentage of what you bet. If you win, and you may, it is due to the wonders of statistical variance that control the range of results that can occur. The longer you play, the more probable it is that you will lose according to the house advantage.

You can reduce your losses or increase you wins by learning basic strategy but it is unlikely that you can do that effectively on this trip. So, set a loss limit (and not your 20K, think like 3K) and go have fun for this trip and come back better prepared to do battle!
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

i would suggest if you want to gamble then at least buy a basic strategy card and follow it religiously with the right rules of course. Just flat bet at $25 or $50 whatever game that pays 3:2 on blackjack. You should play double deck since you are not counting. Your result would be at a slight disadvantage and "luck" mostly has to do if you win or not in the short term basically (within your 50-100 hours ). I would also suggest you set a limit at around 2k-3k ,if that is lost ,just chalk it up as entertainment( never chase as it will likely lead to losing your whole 20k) p.s. DONT PLAY ROULETTE !
