Has anybody played in this casino lately?

Any from the west coast area played in Broomtown in Reno lately? I need to travel there for business. I haven't played there for awhile. The last time I played at Reno I got backed off. I want to know how many round they dealer to each player. Do they still allow double down on any card in a single deck game. Heat, preferential shuffling and is it a countable game? If you don't feel comfortable sharing that information in a public. Please email me at [email protected]

    Thank You

Awful locale for playing BJ, but say hello
to the Casino Manager, as he is (or at least he was)

Specifics on the Boomtown game will
soon be commented upon by "moses"

I got backed off in two casinos in Nevada playing part time during all these eight years of play. That is because I was using too big of a bet spread more than they can tolerate. The pit crew had enough of me and backed me off.

If you are talking about counting in boomtown town it might be an awful place to play blackjack. During my eight years experience as an AP I noticed there is more money making opportunities exist beyond counting those games. With blackjack rules and gaming conditions getting worse I am looking for methods to overcome the poor rules, bad penetrate and poor gaming conditions. You have to go beyond counting those games to achieve that. I won't dismiss a casino yet just because they have poor gaming conditions. I am figuring out ways to overcome it.

They preferentially shuffle. They watch the games if you spread too much. However the HE is 0.14%. You still might want to get a Player's Card since they do give out a couple of free nights a month even at low stakes. They have a Peet's Coffee and Tea there.

Oh one last thing! Lol. There is this one dealer whose name is Daphanie, or the like: she's around 5'2" or 3" and I'd say she's fifty something with greying hair. If you want to kid her when ever you get a blackjack say out loud "Show 'em who you are!" Watch the look on her face. The reason is I say that to her when ever I get one. She loves it BTW.

As Big Jer stated, easy room comps and decent rooms. But horrible playing conditions for anything except perhaps red or low green chips. Sweat pours out whenever green chips (or heaven forbid, a black chip or two) hit the felt. Preferential shuffling is rampant. Penetration varies by dealer, not much of it good anymore.

This place is a shadow of its former self. Years ago, it had about forty blackjack tables -- now it has five or six. That should tell you something. The dump is good for a quick one-max-bet cycle and out the door, (don't even go to the cage, you can cash the chips anywhere in Reno), but that's about it, unless, as noted, you are playing for tiny stakes.

As for the comment about the dealer, I cannot think of a good reason why a presumably skilled patron would want to be associated in any casino employee's mind with anyone or anything. Usually better to be a blank.

Boomtown was on my Reno Casino Death Watch list years ago, and sure enough it died, being resurrected by new ownership, under which it's circling the drain again.

Reno Casino Death Watch list from 2008 -- a 100% "success" rate; every casino on it died, a few were reincarnated.

Peppermill? The last time I played at Reno I got back off at Peppermill own property. Not specifically the Peppermill. They used a computer to analyzed my skill level. But they did it when I was ahead.

Western Village is a notorious sweatshop. You were probably the only player there playing other than coins. Curious as to what difference it makes if you were backed off while ahead or behind?

Moses gave you good advice. Grand Sierra is often playable, too. Just about everywhere else is not.

I was killing them with Greens. Then when the count was negative I put out the minimum bet. Which I shouldn't do.

Yes, the girl that was next to me was playing $100 a hand in greens I guess I would draft the whale but she lost and I was winning. But somehow I got noticed.
