    Greetings All

Hello Everyone! New member/counter here and just wanted to introduce myself. I've had a casual interest in BJ for roughly 2 years. By day I'm a firefighter/paramedic, by night I'm still on duty... However, the bizarre scheduling gives me the benefit of having a LOT of flexibility as I work 24 hours and off the following 48. Fortunate fact #2, with mild traveling I have access to about 9 casino's with some decent rules. While I am still new to the game I've become obsessed with the "sport" and am growing substantially as a player! Largely thanks for this forum, some books, and mostly Casino Verite. These last 2 months have been my first live action play, and I'm up a small amount. We will chalk that up to luck. But I'm looking forward to continue absorbing everything I can and sharing with you guys the follies and triumphs of a beginning counter! Cheers Mates!

They'll never see it coming. While googling "Stevie Wonder plays blackjack" in google images I came across an article of a dealer who looked/dressed like Stevie as a fun ploy.

    Welcome Stevie,

Be sure to include a planned and designed bankroll and bet sizing in your education. It will do much to prevent financial and psychological meltdowns.

Kudos for your work as a firefighter/paramedic, we appreciate that you guys help keep us safe!

    What area do you play?
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

    Welcome, brother!
My advice would be to read up on as much literature as you can (Snyder, Wong, Schlesinger, Anderson, etc.), take it slow in the beginning, and practice.
Be safe and best of luck,
    Fireman

Thanks yall. Stealth, I play in the Gulf Coast area. Right now my financial strategy is to not be greedy. Although I'm certainly not against it, I'm not expecting to make money with my limited BR right now. My nickel spread is keeping me just ahead as I learn and build a BR to someday soon raise the stakes. Small world Fireman! Definitely taking advantage of the actual prints along with forum archives.

The forums are great; you can even get good feedback about the best texts available. In addition, look into getting Norm's Casino Verite.
I spent the better part of a year just taking notes on each trip and playing sparingly red chip. Facts about specific dealers and stores (such as pen, game rules, etc.) can be worth a lot to you in the future. Just think of your early playing days as an extended training period.

That's because GG never counted cards in a casino.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
