No, I didn't miss his point. The point I was trying to make was that Wynn/Encore is a place that many wealthy or well to do people go for the environment. Not so much for gambling per se. It is a beautiful place. In fact friends of mine just went there this past weekend and got engaged. While he is a higher end "slot player", I guaranty he did NOT go there to play slots.......LOL

I do agree that raising the HE can be a short sighted action that can end up REDUCING overall take.

The casinos delude themselves that people will loss more but most only will lose a certain amount each trip and tend to lose it almost every trip. Taking their money faster just makes it more likely that they will come less, not at all, or play somewhere else because the place they had been so loyal to has become unlucky. It may take time to occur but it will happen. It is the curse of the bean counter. He sees theoretical saving on a spreadsheet but is incapable of calculating or even considering how the change affects the way their clientele uses their business. More often than not that change that would save the company tens of thousands costs them millions in the long run. As a business man I am always very skeptical of following the bean counters advice. All too often they race to the bean counter to save the company in a downturn and the bean counters advice to save some money is what ends up bankrupting it whether they realize it or not. When your company is weak and vulnerable and can't afford to lose any more revenue that is when you should fear the bean counter the most or you will be bankrupt by the curse of the bean counter.

The gamblers lost their illusion of being able to win .with tight games they just don't win as often making them not wanting to gamble . i was playing slots for a while hoping for cover because of the free play . it was a very loose machine ,i kept going back instead of playing the tight penny machines, i did not know of this one machine until a lot later , it was isolated in a spot.

Case in point is onboard engine business for boats. It used to be everyone wanted Johnson, Evinrude and Mercury engines. It was the industry standard. Then some bean counters decided to save money by using cheaper, inferior parts. A number of years later you have trouble finding a buyer for a boat with one of those engines. Now everyone wants Japanese engines because they are so reliable and stand up to time without the corrosion and other issues that plague the old american industry standards. The experts say it really doesn't matter what type of engine you buy as long as its Japanese. It took time for the owners of outboard engines to notice and the companies had increased profits until they did but now the companies are a joke and have trouble selling their engines to anyone. In the long run they lost orders of magnitudes more than they saved on the cheaper parts. As usual the bean counter destroyed the number one company in the business.
