Hard Rock Vegas credit card hack

The Hard Rock Las Vegas reported a hack of their point-of-sale systems. Credit cards used between 9/27/15 and 3/21/16 may be affected:

Point-of-sale card readers are a big vulnerability these days. I use my Visa card for all purchases and I've have to replace it about every 6 months or so due to fraudulent activity. It's a real pain in the butt, but that's the world we live in. The newer POS systems with the chip readers defeat this issue by encrypting the data, but very few places have them up and running right now. It should get better within the next year or so.

And by the way - who wants to play at "Sweat Rock" anyway?...loud music and lots of heat...

2nd time the HR has been hacked in the last 3 or 4 years. That should give anyone a good reason to not let them scan your DL when getting a player card. (Hard Rock is one of those places that wants a scan of everyone).
