I want to give some brief background and then ask several questions related to my quest.
I played blackjack for my first time at age 18 on a cruise ship CSM. Before ever playing I looked up basic strategy, but didn't have it down perfectly. I played several hours at ~$5 and won $60 by the time we disembarked. Beginner's luck I guess.
Over the next few months I studied basic strategy and looked into card counting; I was hooked. I took my first counting trip from my university in Los Angeles (one of the two big ones) to Barona in San Diego and played terribly, making count-based deviations way before their proper index was reached, spreading $5-$20 on a 6 deck H17 game (lol), etc.
Over the next couple years I learned more and more, practiced more, and took advantage of other edges in blackjack that were not strictly count based. I won more than I lost.
I then devolved into simple comp counting, particularly on the Las Vegas strip when I would take trips with friends and such. I'd pepper in some decent spreading when there was a cheap game available, and was backed off and flat bet a total of 2 times, both in Nevada, when I played marathon sessions. Otherwise I'd play $25 double deck games at MGM properties, flat betting or spreading 1-2, counting all the while in order to make index plays, wong out when the count would dive during the first .5-1 decks, etc. I saw some big swings, but ultimately left Vegas after many trips down a bit, not factoring in my comps (remarkably close to rough estimation of expectation).
In the last month I have started working my first REAL full time job, and it is on the east coast. I am now properly funded and can devote 10k to a bankroll that replenishes. I would like to make at LEAST $15/hour counting, maybe 10-25 hours a week. I have two primary casinos within less than 30 minutes from my work that I could visit on weekdays, and several others that are within 90 minutes that I could bounce around to on weekends. They are mostly s17 das LS games at $15 and $25 minimums, 6-8 decks.
What is the best strategy?
Sims tell me that with a 10k roll, the aforementioned rules and 75-80% penetration that is prevalent and 13% risk I can make ~$20/hour before factoring in wonging and counting two tables (I use hi lo i18 + a few other indices). When I add in a plan to wong in at +1 it goes up to ~$30/hour
I think I may rotate the two 30 minute casinos, for 1-2 hours each night, then take weekend trips and play 1-2 hours at each of the further casinos on weekends. I could spread up to almost $200 and stay at 13% risk, if I am wonging out aggressively.
I would assume even just an hour or two each night at these places at such a bet level would earn substantial comps. I should play with a card, correct? Keep in mind that an hour or two is total spent IN the casino. If I am sitting there and backcounting two tables that have miserable counts, I will not be playing, which seems to limit my exposure.
I also have a bigger question. I have an option to take on an investor on the front end that would match my 10k contribution. Should I entertain this possibility? I hesitate because I am already replenishable, and would have to pay some percentage of wins to him (what is even reasonable for a sideline investor to expect as his return?). I also hesitate because playing with other peoples' money is more stressful.
I may think of more questions but any help is appreciated.
