    Bankroll in Chips: Airport

I have seen a few posts lately about where you keep your bankroll and weather it is best to buy in with chips or case. Also a discussion about not coloring up etc. This led to the question that often gets asked about large sums of cash at the airport but with a slight twist. What about carrying chips through security or in your bags. Is this nay better or worse?

For me I would just stick to cash but I wondered if chips would be a better solution for some people. Granted the choice would mostly come down to personal preference but for some reason having a large stack of chips seems far less suspect than having large sums of cash strapped to your body and tucked into cargo pants.

Personally I'm not worried about it.... buy why do so many people worry then?

Because people are ignorant, same reason people always freak out about taxes and gambling winnings.

Made lots of trips through airports with over 25K in cash. Held it over my head on several occasions. TSA asked me to flip through the stacks to be sure nothing was hidden inside.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

I'm completely knew to the life of playing blackjack, and I'm pretty young so I'm not really understanding why you can't just put the money in your bank account and take it out when you land. I feel like the answer is going to make me feel dumb though.

As odd as it may sound, banks don't like customers who deposit and withdraw cash frequently. They have been known to close these accounts and tell you to take your business elsewhere. Especially Chase.

Haha ok the answer didn't make me feel dumb, but damn my spelling just did. And thanks for the answer I happen to have chase so good to know, I've been trying understand this reasoning ever since I watched 21. one more question if you don't mind, I've been practicing counting cards since last year, and I've gone a couple times and 5 out of 8 times I came up with 100 plus with only going in with 200$ I wasn't sure if I was lucky or actually doing everything right according to the books but I want to get more serious about it but I'm turning 20 this year so I only have a few casinos I can go to but will the casino notice or care if say I start my bankroll at 1000$ and my bet spreads be 25-100$? Do they look for smaller bets like this?

I have a Chase business account. They don't mind so much if you open a business acct. But, there is a monthly fee. Banks hate cash for good reason.

Chase has gotten especially prohibitive and restrictive lately............at least to it's branches here, Norm. I'm surprised you used them for business. They now ask for ID every time you deposit CASH into your OWN account. Even Bank of America does NOT do that. They have continually increased their minimum balance to avoid fees and they have reduced their staffing (of course many national banks have). I do like their online access however AND they are relatively easy to use to send money or transfer money to others. They DO have that cash abhorrence however. So if I were pulling cash in and out for BJ play, Chase is NOT the one I would use.

Manhattan's prob'ly a bit different due to the huge number of restaurants, grocers, etc., that make daily cash transactions. Also, you do need to go to a branch that specializes in merchants.

I bank at two places, chase being one of them. Last year I went on a spontaneous BJ trip and stopped at a Chase to withdraw just a session BR amount ($5K at that time)...for whatever reason, it turned out to be a HUGE inconvenience for Chase to give me the money...i couldn't believe it...never again!

As many dangers as it could potentially have, in my opinion, nothing beats having the cash in a safe in your house.

Why not use credit unions? or both ...
