    UK Casinos

Alright guys, just wondering if any of the UK players have played in casinos that have any interesting/different table games?

Most of the ones I've been to around the midlands have standard roulette, 3 card poker, obviously blackjack, which generally has 21+3 or perfect pairs side bets. Find them to be fairly boring with mostly CSM, when you've been in one you've been in them all. Couple of places have punto banco, generally about as varied as it gets.

Been to Vegas and got spoilt for choice over there I think. Never seem to bring out any new games or just new blackjack side bets in UK.

Not quite true . . . there are occasions when new variants hit the gaming floor - recent examples would be blackjack switch, freeplay blackjack and one I saw a couple of years back, a variant of Punto Banco where . . . wait for it . . . the player was actually allowed to deal the cards from an old style Baccarat shoe.

None of them tend to last, primarily due to a combination of punters preferring to stick with what they know, and the operators having to allocate floorspace and pay a royalty to the game designer. A couple of years back I saw a freebet blackjack table at a House of Chance in Leicester, and despite being there for a couple of hours not a single hand was dealt. Six weeks later it had been replaced with a standard BJ table. I wrote to Geoff Hall, the game designer, and even he didn't know where his game was being offered across the Grosvenor chain.

If you want something that's as near to the Vegas type casino experience as you'll likely to get in the UK, you'll need to head to Aspers in MK - but it's unlikely there'll be anything different on offer. If they have a dice tub on the floor, it's usually prop bets only (no pass line) which should be avoided like the plague (you do the sums on a 4-1 payout when tossing a seven).

If you want to play blackjack whilst counting, then you'll need to scout out opportunities. If you're looking for varied gambling adult entertainment, it's either abroad (the States) or online. Depends what you're looking for.

Yes I've seen blackjack switch and freeplay blackjack somewhere fairly recently, along with punto banco where the player deals from the shoe, might have been all at the same casino but not quite sure.

Yes I think your bang on with that, certainly difficult to get a new game popular when people are already used to the existing games in casinos.

I went to Aspers in MK a few weeks ago and they don't have all the games they state on their website, just loads of 3CP, BJ, roulette, they may have had a dice table that I think was empty and had a big 6 wheel which isn't very common from what i've seen in the Uk, only came across 3 casinos with them.

Yes I'm certainly after good counting opportunities, along with any new games/side bets to look at and see if they are beatable too which would be fun.
