Thread: Why do you recommend playing Blackjack online?

Smile Why do you recommend playing Blackjack online?

I have been very successful playing my online practice sessions with Bovada Casino and 21+ Blackjack Apps. For example, I was able to turn my $10,000 into a $100,000 easily every time. However, I have never played it with real money before.

I like playing Blackjack online because it allows me to play whenever and wherever I want and and the speed is much faster. Besides that, no other players can interfere with my Blackjack strategies.

If you have experienced playing Blackjack online with real money, I would really like to hear your thoughts. The following are some of my questions:

Why do you trust online casinos?

How does the online Blackjack software work?

Why do you recommend playing Blackjack online?

How does the government regulate and audit online casinos to ensure that they do not cheat players?

Which online casino do you recommend to play and why?

Thank you so much for sharing!

If you're turning 10k into 100k (all play/free money) easily or many times....I'd say there's a good chance the software is gaffed in the player's favor -- player thinks it's easy to win, so he decides to put in his own money...but then the winning stops and the losing begins.

    I don't trust online casinos.

I don't know HOW the software works specifically....although this is an odd question I think. What do you mean?

I don't recommend playing blackjack or any other casino game online, unless you can find a legitimate way to win (i.e.: software is bugged and you believe you have a good shot at cashing out).

I don't think the government regulates online casinos....as far as I know, almost all of them are not within the USA.

I wouldn't recommend any, although if no other choice, perhaps Bovada. A little bit of searching around you should find something that seems reputable.

I would suggest you buy Casino Verite from qfit.com and practice with it. Then you will have an unbiased view of your skill level.

(Most of my answers will sound similar to RollingStoned, but I felt you needed to hear them again from multiple people to hopefully drive the points home)

Play money means literally nothing. Some sites are gaffed to have play money tables pay out way higher than the real money tables... Either way, it's play money, it's erroneous.

    1) I don't trust online casinos either. I've played poker on several and never had a problem with those, but I've only played "other" games on a few, and yes, had troubles with them... From cheating games (which got proven) to refusing to payout. You hear horror stories all the time of people playing online and winning then getting an email that says "Oh, you couldn't play that game with your promotion/deposit so we're not paying you."

    2) The software is just a program with a client side interface and server side code. You click a button and the code is programmed to do something. If you're looking to discuss the specific Random Number Generator (RNG) they use, or see their code, you're out of luck. That's all private software owned by the site and they never let anyone look at them (which is also where you could see any programming 'glitches' to cheat and put the game in their favor more).

    3) I don't recommend online blackjack. IF you're dead set on playing, then play somewhere reputable (such as Bovada), get some kind of deposit bonus, and then bet SMALL and don't martingale (doubling your bet after your losses). You WILL go broke doing this. You need to understand that you would be playing FOR FUN and you should NOT expect to make money. It seems like due to your "play money" experience you might have some expectation of winning. Lose this right now if you're going to play online (or even in a real casino unless you're an AP).

    4) Right now there are only a couple of American sites (full tilt for example), and they're not supposed to be allowed to let Americans gamble for real money... The government passed a wire act stopping electronic transfers of funds for "gambling" purposes. Thus, you are technically not allowed to play on American sites for real money. Almost all of the sites you see/etc are hosted in another country, such as Bovada. This is both good and bad as they'll let you play because they don't care, but in the same swing they could cheat you or just flat out steal your money and you'd have pretty much ZERO recourse.

    5) Bovada and Full Tilt have never stiffed me out of an actual cash out. Bovada did try to T & C (terms and conditions) me on a win, but that got resolved (with the Wizard's help) and I was paid. I'd recommend these because I've personally played on them, they have big reputations, and they've been around for a long time. I've had an account with Bovada for over a decade.

    6) I'm putting an extra one in here to again remind you... This would be for fun, for entertainment, and do not go in expecting to turn $10k in to $100k as you did in practice. You will not be so lucky with live money.

About 10 or so years ago I played BJ online at around 50 or so sites. The ONLY reason I did it was to take advantage of the bonuses. I also spent considerable research making sure that the sites were legit (there were some watchdog sites then that I don't know if they're still around). After the UIGA the online show was over for me but by then many of the bonuses had gotten worse anyway. I was always able to withdraw funds but a few times it was like pulling teeth. I definitely would not recommend it just to play without clearing a bonus for the reasons already mentioned.

I've played at 64 online casinos. One was off-brand and clearly cheating. I had no problems with the others and received prompt, no-questions payoffs -- three for sizable amounts. Now, this was when they first started and things have changed. They are far more wary of bonus hustlers.

Online casinos don't actually run the software. There are a few large online casino operators that run the software for many hundreds of casinos. A couple are respected public corporations. Each "casino" is actually a small office that handles phone calls, ads, has a terminal that sets the rules, and manages the payouts. They contract out the casino "operation", money handling, etc.

In the early days, there were hefty bonuses. The bonuses now have tons of restrictions on them rendering them nearly useless.

I would like to thank RollingStoned, Stealth, Romes, Banjoclan, and Norm for sharing your experience and your thoughts. I really appreciate it.

I have been playing Blackjack with the local casinos in California and Nevada for the past twenty years unsuccessfully. My practice sessions with online casinos did not produce good results either.

After researching and reflecting about stocks and options trading and Blackjack strategies, I came to a conclusion that framing my thinking about Blackjack is the first step and the key to playing Blackjack successfully. I believe that there is another way to play Blackjack successfully without counting cards.

With the basic Blackjack strategies and with this new thought and strategy, I have been playing a few sessions with the local casinos in town and my edge has improved tremendously. In addition to that, my practice sessions the online casinos have improved greatly too. That was one of the reasons I wanted to know about your experience and thoughts about online casinos.

It is too early to draw a conclusion but I am very excited about this new approach. My next step would be to continue to play small more live sessions and to document my experience. I hope to be able to share my results in the near future.

    Happy to share my thoughts.

If your comment means you think there is a legal way to beat blackjack without counting or hole carding then I would urge you to reevaluate that concept.

If it's not card counting, ace sequencing, shuffle tracking, back card cutting, or flashing... then I'd be 99.99999% sure you're not actually beating the game, FYI. Feel free to post your "system" and we can mathematically show/prove what it will do.

...please tell me it doesn't involve "doubling your bet" after a loss.

speaking of free games...does anyone know what happened to the free game on this site? I really liked it for training purposes but for months it was broken and now it seems to be entirely removed.

    Nicely done, Dog Hand.

Just to reiterate what these guys are saying, if it's legal and not counting or a more advanced AP play, it isn't going to work. I assume you could go through the disadvantage forums and find hundreds? of "systems" that don't work. (I don't know, I've only wound up there by accident a few times)

You could take advantage of poorly thought out promotions without knowing more than basic strategy. Doesn't sound like this is your case.

If you are curious about online casino payouts, I suggest looking at the online poker forums on 2+2. People used to post their payout status fairly often.
