Rules, rules, rules and more rules

I have a nearing trip to Vegas coming up. How do I find out which type of table I am at without drawing too much attention to the fact that I am trying to find my optimum game?

I realize the layouts have certain items posted. I can obviously look at shoe and/or watch a few rounds of play to see what playing decisions are permissible. Do the tables have a table-side placard that delineates the rules for that table's game?

Any other suggestions without just outright asking dealer or pit?

If your concern stems from asking questions indicative of a knowledgeable player, you could always call the casinos you plan to visit the day before. Although, that could take a lot of time, making CBJN even more worth it.

Not sure what you play, but harrahs casinos run a ton of 6/5 games. There are some 3/2 at green level but they are sparse. Best bet for a decent 3/2 game is MGM properties or downtown at the nugget. Most shoe games are 6D DAS, S17. There are very little details to be gleaned from any visual perspective. The only notice is found on the game type screens underneath in small print whether they are 6/5 or 3/2. My advice if you are red chip stick with MGM properties otherwise your options are limited. As for downtown, Nugget is about the only place. Golden Gate has a $15 shoe, but pen is only 50% other places use the CSM so they are not an option.

Look at the felt. It will say: "Blackjack pays 3 to 2" and "dealer must hit soft 17" etc. As far as surrender, I'd just ask when you have a 16 v. 10 or something. Double after splitting is tricky, because you want to know for certain hands, but it might be odd to ask.

You can buy CBJN at Pi Yee Press, or the Gambler's Bookstore on Eastern AV, or online at bj21.com

    Meanwhile GO TO:

Note that the column headers are clickable to permit interesting sorting.

This table has not been updated in 9 months, but for your purposes ...

I have CBJN and know which places I'd like to visit; the problem is that the property may also games that I don't want to play and so therefore I would like to be able to know the rules of a table's particular game to know if I am at my desired game's table, i.e. the first table I approach may or may not be the right game.

I'm concerned that asking might be kindling for heat; who else asks right away or right up front "Can I double after I split? Can I resplit Aces? Can I resplit any ten-value cards or do they have to a pair? Etc."
