Casino Enemy No.1
James Packer inherited his money from his father, Kerry, who was a well known recreational gambler in LV and London. He played BJ and Baccarat mainly, reportedly betting up to $250,000 a hand and could end a session +\- $30million. He made his money in TV and publishing. I met him once years ago and he was a rat cunning businessman who also quietly gave a lot to charity. When Kerry died James moved into gambling and is now a partner in Melco Crown Entertainment who have hotels and casinos in Australia, Macau, UK and the Philippines. James and Mariah were engaged on Jan 21.
Casino Enemy No.1
Blackjack is (legally) forbidden in Costa Rica.
The casinos are numerous and tiny. They do
deal a game called "Rommy" which is similar
to a crippled version of Spanish21 with a house
edge that is very high.
Above I said "legally" because I found it plausible
to convince some casino managers to deal 21.
I didn't realize this. I played Blackjack at three separate casinos in CR. One in San Jose, one in Tamarindo, and one in Manuel Antonio. The games were blackjack and called blackjack. Not really recommended though. I don't think that they ever changed the cards and there certainly seemed to be a whole lot of little cards in those decks.
