    Current Wizard BJ Survey

Does anyone know how accurate the current survey is? I was planning a trip to Vegas later this year and had played a very deeply cut DD game at Circus^2. It states they only have single and 6 deck games now. Anyone been to the big top lately?

The most recent issue of CBJN indicates that CC has a DD game. $25 min. .8 cut off.

But would you call that a "deeply cut DD game"? I would call a deeply cut game to have about 26 cards or less cut off, and a 45+ card cut off as a mediocre game.

YOU would call ... ? There are good reasons why nobody is asking YOU.

75% is deep. 60% is acceptable. You said that 45 cards (43%) is mediocre.

Mediocre implies marginal. 43% penetration is DREADFUL !

Table crowding, heat, and the rules in place
    MUST be considered.

I would avoid a place that only has 1 good DD game, while every other table pays 6:5. That's the definition of a counter trap.

He was very wrong where it counted the most ...
implying that playing games with absurdly bad pen' are playable.

I think there's a mix up on interpreting the pen percentage. I think Zee was saying that 26 cards cut of (i.e., 75% pen) is deeply cut. I would agree. And 45 cards cut off (i.e., 57% pen) is mediocre. Again I would agree. Looking at the CBJN report for the CC game, it says pen is ".8". I would interpret that to mean that .8 of one deck (42 cards) is cut off. Thus the pen is 60%, which I would say is in the mediocre range, but not unplayable.

So it went from $10 min to $25. When I was there the pen varied greatly, from amazingly deep to pathetic. One dealer I found dealt to about 85%.

I target DD dealers giving 75% or better-rules not withstanding.

Speaking of surveys......and playing conditions..........and Trackjack going down.............and Norm wondering about having a section on playing conditions but thinking it's too much trouble, what would you guys (and Norm) think about having a section (could be or SHOULD be in subscription section) that stated or reported comments on conditions (penetration, table rules, etc.) that DIFFERED from CBJN or Wizard's survey. They depend upon so many players to report.........information is not always accurate.........and we all know that it changes from time to time MUCH more quickly than a monthly report or survey updates would help.

If everyone (not disclosing honeypots) would just give their scouting and information......maybe dates they saw said conditions that differed from the survey or CBJN, it might be helpful to us all. I'm not saying that we are all on the same page or level but I would think at least we all have the same purpose of using the best information out there to play the best games possible.

I have been a (barely) compensated reporter for CBJN for a long time.

In discussing table conditions, the most common problem [presented by

non-pro players] is reporting on a very casual finding, not representing

the penetration offered by most dealers, ignoring other shifts, etc. etc.

Is there a form or blank info sheet you fill out for CBJN? Would that be the minimum necessary to report on this site as to conditions? What would make reporting better? To me, it would seem that you would put most of this info into your ledger on reporting your playing sessions. Would that not be something that could be reported on the forum that would be beneficial to all here? If the right section or format was done?
