    My Mirage Survey Response

I just recently returned from Las Vegas. I was there for a VIP Super Bowl party. They wanted me to fill out a survey on how I enjoyed my stay. I rated them complety satified on all of their resturants and my room. Service was excellent everywhere expect table games. When it came to rate them on table games I gave them unsatifactory on BJ. This is what I said,

"I will never play 6/5 BJ! The table limits are to high for 3/2 Blackjack $100 dollar min. The $100 tables were not very busy anytime of the day. When asked if they would lower the limit to $50 you said no. The bean counters are doing nothing but driving your bottom line down other then improving it. You think that extra 1.5% will improve your bottom line? It is doing nothing but driving people to play elsewhere. I played mostly at TI and other casinos that offer 3/2 blackjack and so did the group of people I was with. I counted the money lost among the group almost $24,000 and not one red cent lost to the Mirage on table games all because of 6/5 BJ. Most people are going to lose anyway you just want it in your pocket faster! Nothing but a bunch of GREEDY PIGS you are! I hope you get the point but I doubt it!"

I doubt if they even read this stuff but I just wanted to let them know.

Good. But, next time someone responds to this survey, include the word "fraud". 6:5 is an outright fraud on the public. It is not Blackjack.

So, if I understand correctly, all games below min 100 are 6-5. Wow - last time I was in that sweat shop, 6-5 was only at the $10 tables.

It's not the only place that is trying 6-5 on ALL tables. I had heard or read that Golden Gate might have a good game but you had to look in the secondary pit; not the main one. Was in Vegas this past week from Sunday-Thursday. They had 6-5 on ALL their games and the secondary pit was NOT open. They said they only opened it on Weekends and that yes, it paid 3-2, but only on the weekends. Otherwise the new rules were 6-5 across the board.......................

    Really? Really?????

That Friday when I arrived I found one $50 dollar at 3pm I played for about a hour and made $900. As soon as I left the table it was raised to $100. No more tables with 3/2 blackjack for under $100 after that. Even in the high limit room min was $300. There were some $50 min 8 deck H17 6/5 fraud jack. What a deal. Maybe because it was Super Bowl weekend. The town was totally packed.

I haven't been to the Mirage in a while, but I would suspect the reason why only $100+ games were 3:2 is because of the influx in crowding. In other words, all the table minimums went up. So, instead of having a $25 3:2 game, it got bumped up to a $100 game. The games that used to be $15 min got bumped to $25 or $50.

I stopped by the Aria (and a few other casinos) day before NYE (not SBS)...and found the $100 craps table absolutely swarmed, the $300 craps table pretty busy, the $500 tables looked to be about what they would normally have on a weekend night, and the $1000 table had a few players.

They increase the table minimums when expecting a large crowd....because they can. (Theoretically, throwing out random numbers)....If they expect 1,000 players to play game X, but they can only seat 300 of them, why would they leave the minimums so that all 1,000 of those players can play? They'd make more money by increasing the minimums, so that the top 300 of that 1,000 can play (because they have more $$$). Either way, seats are going to be filled by 300 people, better for the casino to have those people betting $100 instead of $15 or $25.

But of course, the problem becomes -- what if not all of those seats are filled [and there exist people who want to play, but can't play at the offered limit]? I'd say there's a disconnect between management and the pit bosses / floor people....where management expected 300 of those 1,000 people to play at the $100 level, but in reality, only 150 of those 1,000 people would play at the $100 level.

Although I do agree -- bean counters are costing them money.

I was at the Mirage less than a month ago and played 3:2 blackjack for $15/hand at an otherwise empty table with some friends. This was a WEEKEND afternoon. I'd be surprised if they eliminated all 3:2 below $50 in just a month...

There was no 3/2 BJ for less then a $100. What would you be surprised about? It was Super Bowl weekend.

Back in the day, as we say, I recall days when finding a BJ table
UNDER $500 minimums was very difficult on special days at the
casinos that welcomed high level action.
