    Advice for keeping records

Do you guys just keep track of how long you played and how much you won/lost? Do you also track how many rounds you played? How many rounds you observed (if not playing all)? How high the count got and how many max bets you put out?

I'm struggling to determine an accurate EV for a given session at the casino. Since I usually Wong in and out, I'm not playing every round. CVCX gives me expected win/round and expected win/hour but this is not the same as win/round played. When backcounting an 8D shoe, I'm expected to play only 25% or so of the hands, so my expected win/round played is actually 4 times higher than win/round (which includes both observed and played). In reality, I'm sure I've played many more than 25% of hands because I feel that playing so few in my small store would be too obvious that I'm backcounting. What I'm currently doing is trying to estimate the number of rounds I played and then guessing at my EV/round. Bottom line, I feel like I'm not nearly as accurate as I should be so I thought I'd ask for your advice.

    Thanks!

Below is an actual trip session tracking report with the casino and player names redacted.

Player is required to report columns starting on the left over to Casino. All other columns are calculated and reported.

PM me if interested in learning more about how it works.

Thanks so much Stealth. That's great record keeping and very impressive play. I wonder if I could few questions of you or others.

    1. What does RPCF mean?
    2. Do you list rounds actually played or does this number include rounds observed (since your Wong out % indicates you aren't playing all)? For example, in playing session 1, you list 157 rounds and 50% Wong out - so did you actually bet on 157 rounds or 78 rounds?
    3. Does the EV per round represent EV per round actually played or EV per ALL rounds (played and observed).

    Thanks!

    1. The system has several count systems in it's library and Revere Point Count (RPC) with Full indexes is one of them. It also has HiLo Full and HiLo Ill18/F4 and a few other outliers for comparison.
    2. This player plays mostly an allplay and wong out type game. He report shoes played and the entry form calculates the rounds adjusted by decks and wong out estimates. Yes, he actually bet on that many rounds (157 in your example) and either played two hands at half his bet ramp amount or one hand of all of his bet ramp amount.
    3. No counting is done for hand s"not played". Fully understand the implication, but you get 0 EV when backcounting and when wonged out. You do however get better opportunities with higher advantages. When planning trips and estimating hour we consider the backcounting time in the plan but no session accounting is done.
    4. EV per round is the sum of (freq at count X bet at count X advantage per count) for round played. I should add that if you are recording the info and desire to calculate EV, you will need at each true count: frequency distribution / win/loss percentage / bet amount

Super helpful. I have a spreadsheet where I input the data from my CVCX sims (freq. distributions, win rate, bet amount) so I can calculate EV per round as you suggest. I find it hard to accurately estimate how many rounds I'm playing and what percentage of rounds I'm sitting out but I'll work on it. Thanks!

Most do it by making an estimate for game speed and multiplying by time. Like you might have a slow table and play 60 rounds/hr for 45 minutes so you played 45 rounds. You might play heads up with a fast dealer and play 200 rounds/hr for 15 minute so you have played 50 rounds.

Number of decks (thus, *52 is # of cards) played and number of players/spots. I believe the average is 2.7 per spot per round.

Recording # of rounds seen (not played, i.e. Back counting) wouldn't hurt....but doesn't seem like something that you need to record. Do what you want, but I don't see a good purpose in recording rounds observed.
