    Blackjack Books

Hi I'm sure this has been posted up hundreds of times but I'll ask again anyway. Just finished perfecting the basic strategy and now looking to start learning about card counting. What is the best count to learn as a beginner? Hi low?

Also been looking at buying a few books but as quite a few of them are pretty old was just wondering if they are still relevant or if I should be looking at more recently written books? and if anyone could suggest a couple that would be worth reading.

    thanks

I like Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong. Beat the Dealer by Ed Thorp is good too.

BTW the strategies haven't changed much - if at all - since they were first developed.

Many of the "must read" books (even the older/dated ones) are worth reading. Many of the books can be bought so cheap on Amazon anyway. Blackjack Attack is a good one to have and I personally enjoyed Blackbelt in Blackjack. But there are so many other great blackjack reads. Just buy them all and knock em' out one at a time .

I'm new at this too. So far I've read Beat the Dealer, Sklansky Talks Blackjack, Knockout Blackjack, Winning Casino Blackjack for the Non-Counter and Kevin Blackwood's Play Blackjack Like the Pros. Blackwood's book was my favorite. It's the only one l plan on re-reading before moving on.

The most important book to read is "The Theory of Blackjack",
    6th ed.

A very inexpensive book, considering the wealth of information it contains.

The only other requisite addition to your library is the
    3rd ed. of "Blackjack Attack"

Someone just learning to count should start with Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong.
It is an older book, the latest edition is 1994, but it is a good introduction to counting.
Other books are valuable like Blackjack Attack 3 and The Theory of Blackjack, but they definitely should not be the first BJ book you read.

Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong is a good book. The methods in "Professional Blackjack" works pretty well when it was first developed in 1994. The methods could still work if the games were as juicy right now.

For new players I suggest "Modern Blackjack" by Norm Wattenberger.

    P.S.: ZenMaster_Flash,

I am confuse as to why you would recommend "Professional Blackjack" by Stanford Wong when you are NOT a believer and proponent of the Hi-lo count?

Blackjack Attack - 3rd Edition by Don Schlesinger is a must as both a instructional book and a frequently used reference source.

Blackjack Life by Nathaniel Tilton is a great read, both entertaining and an accurate insight into what becoming a card counter is really like and the trials you are likely to see.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

This is not a book but it will give you an orderly step by step method for learning to count.
