Counting Cards, Happy Holidays. :) Questions, Expert Advice. Thanks.

    Counting Cards, Happy Holidays.

I am Looking for the BEST advice an EXPERT BLACKJACK Player can give me. I Have Several Questions I Need Answered. Thanks for Taking the time to read this.

I Recently Found Serious Interest In BlackJack, I was amazed when I found out I can Have a Greater Chance Of Winning over the House If I Keep a RUNNING Count of Hi Lo Cards. Ive Spent time Learning about Basic Strategy and Counting Cards. I Need help With My Betting Methods. Ive Put My Practice into Action On a Positive RUNNING Count at a Casino, I Received Great Hands On a Small Period Of Time. I Just Haven't Raised My BET to Max. I Am Still Practicing. I HAVE SEVERAL QUESTIONS I HOPE I CAN HAVE ANSWERED. THANKS. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

1.If I Sit Down On a RUNNING Count Of +8 and the DEALER is SHOWING a 4 and I Have a Hand Of 13. DO I STAND? Because I Know the Next Card Is HI.

2.If I Sit Down On a RUNNING Count Of +9 Is It Time to BET HI?

3.If The RUNNING Count is +10 and Its DEALER VS ME, Is It Possible For The Dealer To Get All My Hi Cards and Make Me Go ON a BIG LOSING STREAK?
"I Hear People on this site talking about how the dealer got most of the good cards"

4.Does BASIC STRATEGY On a NEW SHOE Affect The RUNNING COUNT Later In the SHOE?

5.If I Sit Down On a RUNNING Count Of +8 Should I Place HI BETS On 1 or 2 Spots?

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS FORUM. LEAVE YOUR COMMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY EXPERT ADVICE. THANKS .............................BLACKACE

I'm not an expert but there is no way for you to know the next card is high. Also, a running count isn't what you play or bet by. It is the true count and that is determined by the number of decks remaining to be played. A running count with 4 decks left makes a true count of +2 while a running count with 1 deck left gives a true count of +8. After you learn basic strategy, you need to learn to convert your running count to a true count.

    #2 Same answer as above
#3 Think of it this way. With 10 digits a telephone company can have a number for over 3 billion people. With 52 cards in a one deck game, the deck can be shuffled 8 with about 22 zeros following it. That is how many ways a single deck can be shuffled. What cards appear is just random chance.
#4 Basic strategy is not associated with a running count. Basic strategy is just the best way to play each hand. The only purpose of counting is to develop a true count and learn indices that allow you to vary from basic strategy.
#5 You have to learn indices before you know what to do. See #4.

You need to read a good book so you will understand.
Play within your bankroll, pick your games with care and learn everything you can about the game. The winning will come. It has to. It's in the cards. -- Bryce Carlson

    Black Ace.

You are certainly not at the point where you should be betting actual money in a casino.

Your chances of winning are very poor indeed.

Invest (just a few) dollars and JOIN this website so that you can post private

messages and access all of the resources.

Within 6 months or a year or two you may be competent

enough to play a winning game when you find a casino with good rules and table conditions.

Right now you are like a person asking for marriage advice before ever having a date.

WHERE do you reside and do you KNOW that you cannot play BJ with a few hundred dollars in your pocket ?

Better players than I have responded to you. There advice is very good. However, if you are not likely to wait to get better before you play, here are my answers.

    1. If a running count is +8, you stand on a 13 against a dealer 4.
    2. If you sit down on a running count of +9 and you have 4 or more decks to be dealt, you should only bet slightly more (like $20 if your minimum bet is $10. The fewer the decks that are left to be dealt, the more you would bet. Remember that there is no guarantee that you will win the hand and you must have enough dollars in your pocket in case you have to double or split multiple times. How much you bet depends upon how much you have on hand to play.
    3. Yes, either you or the dealer could get on a big streak however, if you get a BLackjack, you win more than does the dealer and you can split and double down and win those hands because ZiF the dealer has a bad hand, he is more likely to bust.
    4. No.
    5. Again, it depends upon a number of things because we need to know how many decks are left to be dealt with a running count of +9.

The fewer the decks that are left to be dealt, the more you would bet. Yeah I figure that's commen sence if the count is right. And that's what I usually do. I NEVER sit down on a BAD Count. It just decreases the chances of losing more money.

Whenever I sit down on a good count and there is only couple players I do great. But On a FULL table they use up the rich cards.

Okay. So if the count is +8 and there is 2 decks left. That's a true count of +4?

I'm curious as to your knowledge of running count but judging by the text of your post you know nothing of true count... odd IMHO
And Bodarc, your first sentence in post #2 was pretty damn funny... try to behave yourself

    .
The way blackjack is dealt in the casinos your right, but playing the cards down to the last one or last few a player can determine with great accuracy what the next or last card is.
