    Not knowing the answers

This is in no way aimed at anyone in particular. However, on these forums, I see a lot of people making blanket statements, like "anything greater than a 1-x spread will not be tolerated on any single/double/shoe game." Or "comps work x way at all casinos, on all shifts, with all peope."

Many of these statements are gross oversimplifications. Others are completely, utterly wrong. Often these wrong opinions appear to be based on reading a single book, or re-hashing the opinion of someone on the internet who read a book.

In any case, if you don't actually know the answer, say so. If you're posting wild speculation, say so. Maybe someone has a more accurate answer. Or, maybe your wild speculation is the best info available.

You may notice I will do this in threads. For example, in the North Carolina and Greenbriar casino threads I threw out some limited, old, possibly inaccurate info that I had. Sometimes, others may have a better answer (apparently NC is no longer only video BJ). Or, I will explain that comps work X way at casino Y based on this evidence. If their comp system changed, others can say so.

For new games, or new methods of playing games, if you are making a guess, that's fine. But distinguish that from a 10 trillion hand sim.

This misinformation, deliberate or not, hurts the AP community, and leads newer players to do silly things. So, if you're not sure what the answer is, say what you think it is and why. But don't throw wild speculation out like it's in the 10 commandments.

Very good advice, Moo. Since I first played BJ as First Mate for Columbus , I've come to the conclusion that conditions change as quickly as the weather.

Good points both moo and BookerPA. I think many engage in generalizations, that are generally a good rule to follow or assume, but not true in all cases.

A very good disclaimer, Fr0gman ! I was wrong once... I think... so I know how important it is to be be humble and admit to the possibility that you might be wrong. My advice is to always be humble, and to be proud of it!

You have to admit that naming your book, "The World's Greatest Blackjack Book," and then using the pseudonym Lance Humble is a clever joke.
