    Actual Casino Conditions

I rarely ever go to the casino so i dont really know what conditions there are but i was wondering if people here could tell me what is most common for following rules/variations:

    1) Double down after split?
    2) Surrender? (someone told me most casinos dont even offer surrender)
    3) Toss blackjacks early? (so if a player gets a blackjack the dealer immediately puts it in the discard tray?) or do they just payout immediately or what happens?
    4) Double down cards.... Face up or face down? (after a player doubles down is that card dealt face UP or face DOWN)
    5) Dealer Peaks on 10/A for blackjack?

Any time I've played BJ, proper procedure for dealers is to let each player make their action (hit/stand/split/double), in order from dealer's left to right (first base, center, third base). Once the dealer gets to the player with the blackjack, he pays it out, and puts cards into discard tray.

If there is no hole card or the hole card is not checked for Ace/Ten under (when there's an A/T as up-card), dealer will pay the BJ at the end of the round, if a T or A is dealer's up.

    4) Usually in hand-held games where the cards are dealt face down (pitched), the double down card is also dealt face down. In games where the game is dealt face-up (ie: shoe), double down cards are almost always dealt face up.

    5) In the US, almost always, at least in my experience.

If the dealer does NOT check for BJ with a 10/A up, then you have to figure out the rules of what happens if dealer does have a BJ. There's OBO and OBBO (and maybe others? not sure). OBO is Original Bet Only, meaning if you wager $25 and dealer ends up with a BJ, the most you can lose is $25 -- even if you split or doubled...the split or double'd wagers would get pushed back to you. OBBO is Original Bet & Busted bets Only, same thing, except you immediately lose if you bust (OBO - you don't lose immediately if you bust, on say, a split 88). And the other variation is dealer BJ trumps all -- basically, any time dealer gets a BJ, you lose [not sure if you get a BJ too, what happens there].

I don't play no-hole card games....so I may be off here or there on the NHC rules above.

Thanks for the reply that was really helpful.

Anyone else here have experience with double deck or handheld games (are all handheld games single/double deck?) Having the DD card dealt face down?

What about dealers tossing blackjack? I swear I thought if multiple players are playing at a table sometimes the dealer would pay the blackjack but not put cards in the discard tray until the round is done?

In my area, the dealer takes a hole card and pays any player blackjacks immediately after checking it. The cards are immediately discarded. In other nearby areas, the dealer pays the blackjack when s/he comes to that spot. The games are dealt face up (no SD or DD) and double down cards are normally dealt face up. Some casinos will deal the double down card face down upon request. Usually by ploppies wanting to increase the suspense.

The dealer will paid a player's bj when he gets to the player(after checking for dealer bj),unless it is a no holecard game.THe other case is if the dealer forgets to pick up the player's card.
