What to do on a day like this

I have a very bad day today. People were complaining at my index plays all day. First, a woman got mad at me because I surrender my 16 against 10. After a few instances like this, I swapped to other table when TC turned negative. At the second table, I have to hit 12 against 4 a few times, unfortunately I got face cards every time. Not only that, I cost the table thousands of dollars every time. Normally people playing orange and purple chips are more tolerant. But they were complaining to the floor person. Seems like important whales to the casino because their host was nearby to tend them every way he can. So I changed table again. I went to low stake table. For some reason, some nice ladies tried to "teach" me the proper move. And the worst of all, if I had just played BS, table would have won. But instead, I costed the table every time. Will you give it in on a day like this?

    You ignore the nattering palaver.

"It's my money and I will play my hunches."

"You don't have to play at THIS table, you know?"

Or what you can say is "So the cards were shuffled for the game of Blackjack and the number of people at the table?"

    BigJer,

Sarcasm is self-defeating, (or at the least), ineffective in this context

Never listen to what ploppies have to say. Civilians always make comments on the way I play my hand, especially in high count situations where I will stand 14 or 15 vs 10, double soft 19/20, or take insurance on a stiff. I look at them, smile and nod, shrug my shoulders, and say "meh... I had a hunch."

I never adjust my play to accommodate a ploppy. As a matter of fact, I will do the complete opposite. If I know the person sitting next to me doesn't like when people jump in and out ("changing the flow of the cards"), I will purposely fluctuate between one and two hands, even in negative/neutral counts, in hopes it might encourage that person to take off. Especially if I feel like the table is a little too crowded for my taste. But I do prefer always having at least one person at my table (in a shoe game), so I have someone who can eat all the low cards in negative counts while I conveniently "use the restroom" or take an "important phone call/text message".

It's a little distracting especially if you have already made some conversation at the table, and it seems as though the ploppies were starting to like you. I am generally a quiet person anyhow so I try not to get involved in the table talk, because as soon as I have to make an index play it's going to piss them off. I usually say something like "I saw this in a movie once." or "well it worked in the movies."

You aren't there to socialize with strangers.

OK. I got a new one to make today worse than any other day. A nice lady sitting next to me tried to have conversation with me. Being an AP, it wouldn't happen as I kept my answer brief. Eventually she decided to leave but before she did, she turned to me with tears in her eyes, saying why are you so rude to me? This experience really scares me. Are we supposed to socialize with the tablemates?

I practice trying to keep the count and having a conversation.

    1. Tell you what honey, sweetheart Mack whatever, you play your game, I'll play mine.
    2. You should be able to keep a running conversation and keep count at the same time. If you can't, you're probably easy to pick off.
    3. Exception to 1 above, you have a min bet out, let's say you have 12 V 2, and table mate has a monster bet or 2 - pit loves a happy table - for the sake of a min bet,say to him her - I don't give a shit if I hit or not - what is your preference.

    1. I will never be that rude.
    2. I can have a short conversation. But sometimes people expect a lengthy heart-to-heart conversation. I am just not interested.
    3. 12 v 2 is easy. 13 v 2, 13 v 3, 12 v 4, 12 v 5, 12 v 6 are hard. Most people know it is "wrong" based on their training.

I think one should be careful with ploppies ,they are part of the game . i would use them to my advantage and avoid them when necessary . I still can not do it that well at times. With days like Bj Genius 's ,your emotional state is already bothered by them. i would try to take a step back and regroup myself . Talk is always easier , I have had moments that i just wanted to grind through with these ANNOYING ploppies but All it did was made me feel worse and the problem was not solved . i later realized if i had left , I would of felt better and be more focus on my task.
