Thread: Confused on what to do?

Question Confused on what to do?

Im new to card counting but not to gambling.

Personally know a few APs very well and they've given me a lot of advice however I still have questions on how to proceed. I'm not in any griffin/ casino surveillance system and would like to avoid being in it as much as possible.

    1) Should I play rated? - My friends say it will make me last longer, however, when banned wouldnt they already have my information on hand to trespass me or put me in the books? Doesn't the casino have you ID'd as you are required to show it at the entrance of the casino?

    2) What is the point of resisting to show ID to security/police if they already have your name when you enter the casino?
    3) Should you provide a real name to police officers if they ask you what your name is?
4)Why not just invoke 5th amendment rights and remain silent when backroomed/detained.
    5) It is recommended you leave as soon as u are backed off without cashing your chips. If the casino doesn't allow you to cash in chips without your ID then do u call the gaming commission? How long does this take?

I'm just trying to avoid a situation where I am travelling with my bankroll, have it changed in chips, and am kicked out of the casino/denied entry and have no way to cash in my chips. (Selling these chips/Giving it to a friend to cash in is not an option). I also have read in some casinos that once casino chips leave the property they have no value.

    Thanks,
    BJprive

(i've read all the threads regarding illegal detainment/officers being ignorant of the law, just want to know what to do in these situations) Assuming you are alone and in the middle of nowhere.

All depends what your BR is. If you are a low stakes - red/green chip then you can probably play rated. Anything above that I wouldn't.

    2) What is the point of resisting to show ID to security/police if they already have your name when you enter the casino?
Don't give them anything if you don't have to.

    3) Should you provide a real name to police officers if they ask you what your name is?
    Yes. That's a different case.

4)Why not just invoke 5th amendment rights and remain silent when backroomed/detained.
Well aside from you should not go into the back room, you don't have to give them anything. Casino security is not a legal entity. But don't lie!

Depending on the size of your chips then just go to another casino to cash them out. But if that is not an option and you don't want a friend to do it then maybe someone else can answer it.

And get an attorney's number in Vegas, baby, who deals with this stuff.

BigJer gave you some great information. He directly answered your questions, so I'll give you a lot of information indirectly answering your questions... I wrote 3 articles "A to Z Card Counting in Blackjack" that are available here: http://wizardofvegas.com/articles/A-...-in-Blackjack/

I hope you can find the other 2 =p, but in them there's good information on what to do when faced with heat, security run ins, cops, etc, etc. I hope you find the information useful. I linked you to the first article (most of the heat/security/etc is Article 2) because you said you're new to counting, so I'm hoping you can take a lot more away from them than just the 2nd article surveillance issues.

Some of them have pretty good memories. The other day I want to a casino. A waitress who had only waited on me once came up to me and said "Do you need anything?" I said "Yes, a cup of coffee please." and before I could get the words out of my mouth, she said that's with 3 sugars and 1 cream right?"

    I couldn't believe it.

    ALERT
    : Bodarc has "outed" himself.

Casinos use cocktail waitresses (CW's) to gather

info' on suspected AP's, and are, at this moment,

debriefing 21 CW's per hour at a lavish resort in

Winnemucca, NV in hopes of identifying Bodarc,

to finally put an end to his financial predations !

    ***************************************

Penned with tongue in cheek but I actually know

AP's who are distinctly paranoid in their thinking.

Three sugars and 1 cream are standard. I see this all the times.

    My card reads:

"Wears blue auto mechanic's shirt. Dirty fingernails. Drinks hot milk. Never wins. Speaks Nigerian Igbo."

My card reads " recreational counter, Doctor, polite and genial, sometimes wins, sometimes loses, not trying to rip off casino, probably does not know much more than basic counting".

I was playing as a refusal years ago. When the new PC began her shift, she came to the table, withdrew the hand-written rating cards identifying each player at the table, and said hello to each in turn. When she got to me, she said, "Hello, Mr. RN," to which I politely replied, "Hello to you as well."

Later, another player asked, "Why did she address you in such an odd fashion?" "Oh, I'm a registered nurse," was my reply!
